Failed Kingarden

How do I explian to my 5 yr old that my he failed K and that he has to do it all over again he is so exicted to go to first grade but he will not be going there next yr I bileve its all my fault that he Failed i wish i new that K was going to be so hard i would of studied with him more are put him in preschool last month we found out that he has ADDHD and that had alot to do with he not doing so good at school i just wish i found out sooner and could got him help alot sooner

Ahhhhhh, that's a hard one Momma! ADDHD is hard to cope with sometimes and dont be afriad to ask for help!

what was the reason they want to hold him back??

O wow im sorry hun, i wouldn't know what to say about that but maybe just tell him he gets to take nap time for one more year...gah idk didn't they take nap time away?

I know!! How do you just now find out that the child will be held back this late??

It should have been brought up way sooner by the teacher. I say get your kid out of that school ASAP if your just now being told about this.

WHAT! they took nap time away? What all do they do in Kindergarden** now? I don't remember doing anything then drawing, coloring, and napping.

Yeah i did i new he was failling and wasent keeping i keep trying to work with him but he is so far behind

i dont have an answer for you but i have a friend whos nephue has addhd and they changed his diet and his grades and actions out side of school changed they dont let him eat any thing with untatural anything in it not reuaraly or any thing may just be lucky but worth a try no

Sorry OP but that sounds fishy.. What did you do to intervene? Have you had your son evaluated by a pediatrician? Has he been clinically diagnosed with ADHD?

Yeah, I find that odd that you wouldn't have known ANYTHING all year long and this would just be a surprise at the end of the year...

Maybe you should call Sylvan and see if they can help. He could do that over the summer and be ready by school time next year.

Oh they do do a lot... Teach you to tie your shoes, counting, learning you abc's, but most important of all COOKIE TIME!
