I think that next year you need to be more involved... I'm not trying to be rude or preach, but your childs education is the most important thing.

Next year, instead of waiting until he is so far behind to help him, help him from the get-go. Buy books from walmart that teach simple math and writing, and work with him. He may not like it now, but it's something important that needs to be done.

Might help if his mama could spell 'kingarden' too .. But seriously, just tell him that his teacher loves him so much that they are going to keep him or something. I'm not sure what else you can tell him.

In oregon your child has the RIGHT to progress with their class. You might check your local laws- in oregon they'll progress with thier class, but put in special ed until they are caught up. You might ask about that possibility.

If he's been diagnosed by a Dr. with ADHD then you can request both the school and the Dr. to get your son something called an I.E.P=Individualized Educational Plan. These are amazing to have and will help your child every step of the way, and can even follow him through high school if needed. Going through the phases of getting one can be a little scary for a mom, but it is the best thing. It consists of #1 asking your Dr. to write a simple letter diagnosing your son with ADHD and requesting the I.E.P. #2 Taking that to your school counselor or principal. They HAVE to set up a meeting with your sons teacher, the school districts psychologist, Somebody from the board of Education and the principal and yourself and any therapists they have. They will test your son themselves to see what they can offer him and to you. You will also be asked to sit down while at home and fill out some paperwork and take a test about your son and his actions. The teacher will take the same test and the two will be compared in your next meeting. With all of that in place your son should go to the first grade next year. You can go to the school tomorrow and tell them that you want to start the process and why.

If you need any help with this, parent tank me and I will help you through the process. You can also call the Help Me Grow hotline and get somebody to come out to your house and go through it that way.

Don't be afraid to ask for these things! My son barely spoke, only grunted and groaned for 3 years I never heard I love you, nothing, then with this help, WOW he was chatting away in a matter of months and I learned a LOT!!!!

Good Luck!!

I know, but I was trying to be nice. But it probably would help him if his Mama could help him spell right.
