Other People Pay for Your Wedding?

So I just got this message from a friend on FB...

"ok so i am trying to plan a weddimg it will be a lil backyard wedding not fancy and a bbq party after we dont need alot of money for it but since we havent saved i am asking family and friends if you could help......it will be on july15.......i need for sure some money $1s, $5s, $10s, $20s, $50s, $100s wahtever you can help us with will be awesome. i still need a backyard and of course the house for guest, or some food like if someone wants to make rice, beans, chicken, etc..........we will take whatever you are able to givem I am trying to make it on this day becuase josh will have all his siblings here"

What do you think of this? Tacky or Smart?

I think it is tacky IMO. I didnt pay for my wedding (MIL did because we were just going to have a court house wedding and she about dropped dead) but I would never ask anyone for any money for anything like that. (Anything in general, but absolutely not a wedding.)

I think that is trashy as hell to ask someone to pay for your wedding if she wants to get married she needs to pay for it and if she cant then obviously they dont need to be married yet its noones responsiblity but theirs

Maybe they would be batter just going to the courthouse and having a little party afterwards. I don't understand having a wedding if you can't afford it.
