Okay just wondering other peoples opinions..

My mom was married to my dad for 13 years.. When they divorced my dad got remarried and my mom went through this crazy phase.. She moved to Bermuda and left us(Me and Older brother, We were about 10 and 13) Then she came back and moved to Illinois.. Then came back and met this guy online from Boston.. She payed for his bus ticket and moved him here.. He came with the clothes on his back.. He was CRAZY! He was a drunk and very annoying and he flipped out.. Like bad.. He would yell and scream and cuss at her and spit in her face, and threaten to kill her and Me and Brother.. (By this time we were like 14 and 17 or 1  So she ran off and married him.. Less than a year later she had our baby brother.. (By the same Boston Guy.) They are still married but she deals and has been dealing with his CRAZINESS for a long time now. He will leave at night, not tell anyone where he is going and stay gone for days at the time sometimes.. Then when he comes back he is drunk and all messed up on pills and what not.. Very Absusive too. He had a butcher knife to my older brothers neck, while my mom was pregnant with little brother and she jumped on his back and through him to the ground.. It seemed like every weekend when I lived there the cops were called due to yelling and screaming and throwing stuff and basically trying to KILL each other.. All this around baby brother.. Well last year Step dad "left" my mom for another lady who happened to be rich and buy him shiny things.. Of course he came running back to my mom.. Well this year.. They moved to Georgia and my mom is like.. Oh I guess I better get tested since he cheated on me A YEAR AGO.. So it turns out he gave her genital warts.. And she IS STILL WITH HIM. Now I dropped her off after my baby shower yesterday and he had left with the night WITH A STRIPPER..

So what I'm wondering is.. Why would someone put up with that?? Why not just leave him?? I just don't think I could take it.. Having someone cheat on me all the time..

Insecure. No self esteem. No self worth. However you would like to put it.

I have been saying this for YEARS! Lol. She would even say I'm finally done, I'm leaving him.. But she said it so much that I just don't believe her anymore.. I don't think she will ever come around.. It's just so sad that my baby brother has to deal with it.. And since he has no man in his life he is very feminine.. In fact he is 6 now, and he stole a pair of my wedge heels yesterday and told my mom I gave them to him.. He can run/walk in them better than I can! He demands a purse.. He loves to wear dresses.. I've heard this can be normal in young boys.. It's just HOW he acts about it when you tell him those things aren't for boys.. Not that I will love him any less if he does turn out to be gay.. I'm just worried about him and being in school.. Kids are MEAN! It can't be easy to deal with His parents though..

Honestly, everyone has their limits. I'm not on HIS side AT ALL, but it's what your mom is willing to deal with, so he sees no reason to change. My dad was very abusive to all of us too. My mom left many times and always came back. We also learned that he was very mentally ill, after my mother had put him in jail, and he had attempted suicide.
Now that my dad is on meds, they are very happily married once again, and no more abuse. (Thank God)
But, like, lets say, how your SO was to you, I wouldn't deal with that, but you have a different limit to what to put up with. Just like, I'm sure you wouldn't deal with some of the junk my husband does.

I hope your mom gets out of this situation soon.

Every time I'm on BG I wonder why women put up with smurf/dead beat/lazy partners. I'll never understand. Do they not think they deserve better? That's the only thing I can come up with.
