there is a normal amount of weight loss.. and there is weight loss that shows dehydration and that baby si not getting any milk. So.. it's NOT all BS..

IF the nurses are concerned... have them help with your latch, feed more often, pump after feedings and syringe feed... but rarely do you have to resort to formula.

OP- there are BF safe meds for PPD.

Really they never offered me any?
& I even asked for ones I can breastfeed with, they said they wouldn't do me any good

ask for a different doctor. I went through that. I had horrible PPD with my first.. but it was in teh middle of a trial/sentencing of the mom who drowned her kids and had PPD.. so I aws afraid to say anything. I had it again with my twins... or so my ex said.. I was too exhausted to notice.
by my 4th child.. I spoke up... but my doctor at the time said that he doesnt' give antyhign to BF moms, and I'd have to quit.

Now I work L&D, I KNOW there are mosm who are started on meds for PPD even with BF

I think when people say it is hard for the first two weeks, what is really hard is thinking you might be starving your baby. If you pump you might get almost nothing. But I never really produced much while pumping, but babies just suck so much more effectively. When the baby is peeing or pooping a lot, then they are getting what they need.

By a little bit I mean like literally a tablespoon or even less. It wasnt hard in the sense that DD hurt me, it was hard because I thought I might be starving her.

The hospital will probably give you a hard time about it, but if you have a container to take it home in, and you fight them on it, it is YOURS! If they say 'it's hospital policy to..' make them.show you the policy (there probably isn't one)... hospital's sell them, so they may put up a fight, but be prepared ahead of time! I know several women who have done it, with excellent results!

wtf? hosptials do NOT sell them!! We throw them away as hazardous waste. Though... if a mom wants it.. it's hers.
