Exercise question

I posted this in the MFP forums, but I never get many replies in there so I thought I'd try here...

I just started Insanity last week and it's my first rest day, but I feel wrong not working out AT ALL. How important is a rest day? Do I need to COMPLETELY rest, like no exercise at all? I did the cardio recovery day during the week, but it was all stretching and no cardio, so I did an hour of Zumba after that. Can I do Zumba today? What about that stretching disc? Should I do that again? Or what about Cardio Abs or Ab Ripper X? Can I do that or should I just rest today? How does this work, like for my body, is it best to just let it recover today?

I believe you do need a rest day. Your muscles need a break and I also read somewhere that without a bit of rest, you'll get fatigued, and wont push yourself as far in future workouts, thus seeing results more slowly, or something like that.

Can you maybe go swimming, or biking, or even just take a walk? Something to take it easy, if you don't want to completely skip out for the day?

You need a rest day. Not giving your body a break will cause your body to do the opposite of what you want it to. Before I would always have at least one rest day and one day where I ate what I wanted
