She said it was because of her age. That is where the age references have come from

I opted to skip it. My doctor didn't recommend getting it done for either of my pregnancies. He asked if I wanted it done, I asked if he would and he said no it's not worth the risk or the stress of waiting for the results.

Quoting RebeccaN.:"   so im 14 weeks today and yesterday my Doc told me my 1st Trimester test came back slightly elevated ... [snip!] ... test in two weeks Has ANYONE EXPERIENCED this before??? Please help and share any advice thank you. God bless #HAVING FAITH"
Hi again, I've just had my amnio, yesterday in fact and I am so glad to be able to say to you Don't worry! Its really fine, honestly. The horror stories are just that - horror stories.
They told me it would be no more bothersome than a blood test and that I would wonder what all the fuss was about afterwards and they were absolutely right.
Here's what happens: you go in, you have a quick chat, they put you at ease, you get onto the couch and they scan you to see where the baby is positioned (its nice to see the baby again too) and then they choose the safest place to insert. The needle is so fine they don't even need to numb the area (some do anyway, mine didn't and it really didn't hurt - it was honestly exactly the same as the momentary scratch you feel with a blood test). You only feel it on the surface of the skin, you cant feel a thing inside and its literally out again within a minute. I was very tense because I didn't know anyone that had had it done who could tell me it was fine, and even though I was tense it was still really okay. I hope that puts your mind at rest and I cannot stress enough how okay it really is.
