spotting

I had my membranes stripped yesterday around 1:00. I started spotting right afterwards so I assumed it was from that. Now today I am still spotting some... is this normal or am I possibly seeing the first signs of my mucous plug? I'm 39 weeks and my baby weighs over 9 lbs right now so I am so ready for her to be here that I might possibly just be putting things in my head. Can anyone help??

It's normal also, ultrasounds can be off 2 lbs either way on the weight of your baby

Yeah I have had a few people tell me that... I'm hoping that is it off some because I really want to have a vaginal birth.

my son was over 9lbs and I had a vaginal birth.
Women I know personally have birthed up to 11.5 lb babies vaginally.

just curious did it hurt when you had it done? im due to have one wed and herd mixed storys,

I'm not going to lie it was painful, but it doesn't take that long to get done and it's supposed to help kick things into gear. After she was done I had some cramping but it went away and now besides the spotting I can't really tell she done anything. Of course I have felt pressure for a while now and I have heard from other people that they start feeling a lot of pressure afterwards.

thanks, when i asked her she said the less children you have the more it hurts cos the cervix it tightly closed and after each child it never fully closes, i was due to have one with my first at 4 days over but went into labor the day before so im hoping that happens again, lol, if not i guess il find out, but ive had on off labor pains all wk that get to 2 mins apart and very painfull then when i go bed they stop about midnight so hopefully it wont take much to start it propper,

no problem. This is my first child and I am only dilated 1 cm. She said I'm still thick and pretty much closed up, so it may have just been really painful for me because of that...I am not sure haha this is all new to me.

I am due the same day as you! My doctor wouldnt strip my membranes for anything! I begged!! I am 1 1/2cm dilated and my cervix is still very thick!! I wish my daughter would decided to make her grand debut but i just dont see it happening anytime soon! Good luck!

I wonder why your dr wont strip your membranes?? thats crazy, especially if your not dilating and the due date is almost here. Hope she comes on her own soon I know personally how miserable everything is right now lol. Good luck to you also!

no problem.. My midwife has me scheduled to be induced on saturday if she doesn't come on her own before then. My fingers are still crossed she will show up before then...
