Debates about the Bible.

So, I'm not very educated on the Bible at all. I believe in Christ, but I'm not the "best" Christian I could be. I'm slowly but surely trying to get better.

This girl I know (we'll call her Poop) posted herself wearing a shirt that said something about how marriage is just supposed to be between a man and a woman.

Well, tonight I posted this on my FB:



Lo and behold, Poop responds to the picture. She said "You also gotta take into account that those were the Jewish laws before Jesus came...we don't have to live by those anymore because Jesus died and took away all the religious boundaries ;)"

I replied with:
"According to 1 Corinthians (since that's in the New Testament), "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals."

I don't see people wearing shirts and holding signs talking against people having sex outside of marriage or people that spend too much time playing video games instead of worshipping Jesus. Because, according to that scripture, gay people are right up there with us people who have/have had sex outside of marriage. Why is homosexuality so doted upon?

People think I'm some gay activist... and I'm really not. LOL. I'm just anti-hypocrite."



I just want someone to answer my question. Why is it so hard for some Christians to admit they're being hypocrites? It just makes me sad.

SO and I have been talking about this quite a bit lately. His cousin is a complete bigot on the subject and it drives me NUTS.

Im about at the same level with you when it comes to being a Christian. I admit I could be better at it....

anyway! that being said.....I hate the Christians that like to pick and choose from the Bible about what they want to obey. And you arent suppose to judge others, yet they do.

Cant we all just get along?

Exactly!! Wouldn't it be more enjoyable to be a Christian by embracing how wonderful God is rather than bashing people?

I can't even comprehend the level of stupidity of some people.

Most Christians are on a high horse. God keeps them from being hypocritical.  

I study the bible... Sodomy doesn't mean gay sex... it was pretty much everything done in the city of Sodom (gambling, drunkenness, gluttony, pride, etc).

Also, the OT is more used as a history book, something that we can use to see life before actual Christianity came into place. Christianity means follower of Christ. Christ doesn't come into the picture until the NT.

And Jesus says nothing about homosexuality.

It doesn't say not to judge others. The passage says that we will all be judged with the same level of harshness with which we have judged others. It's a warning not to be too harsh in our judgement, not to be hypocrites, and to remember that we, too, are faulty.

I love this so much I could kiss you. In a totally un lesbian kinda way. My dad and I just had this discussion the other day. He obviously couldn't give me an answer.

Some Christians want everyone to think that they are just perfect when in fact no one is perfect but God. I believe that God views every sin the same way...in His eyes a murderer is the same sin as a lier. Also we are not to judge anyone lest our own sins will be judged by Him one day. Personally..I have so much in my own life to deal with..I don't have the time to deal with anyone else's problems..much less pass judgement upon them. They will have to answer for themselves one day.

But it does  

People don't like being proven that they're wrong. Simple as that. These people attack homosexuality because it's the "it" topic of today. If the "it" topic were about cutting your hair, she'd have on a shirt that said "hair is meant to grow". They are ignorant, oblivious, and generally hateful people and they will move on to the next attack whenever it comes around. Remember, a lot of "Christians" were (and still are) separatists and believe other races are inferior. Back then, homosexuality was clearly still around, but it didn't make as much headline because people were so focused on race. Now they're all focusing on gay marriage. In fifty years it'll be something different.

I agree! and I definately have some changing in my life to do. I dont know why its hard for people to admit their hyprocrites. I have a hard time myself. But I know that I am. Its just something I dont really want to admit if that makes any sense. lol sorry if it doesnt =/

Yeah, that's why I posted about a scripture from the NT. I just can't imagine that the God I feel so close to could see something like this...


and find it horrendous. I just don't believe that. I don't feel it "in my heart"... as corny as that sounds.
