Autism....?

So I just got back from rylans dr appointment, and he seemed very concerned about his behavior and lack of eye contact (whic is zero)...so she said she wanted him to have a evaluation for autism.... So what do they do at the appointment,

My son went through the ADOS test. It took about an hour or so. I wasn't in the room. They wanted to see how he reacted to certain social situations such as when someone started crying, how he reacted with pretend play, eye contact, language, etc.

They have you fill out a series of documents, then they do a assessment usually ADOS. We were there the whole time, they watched how he was with us. With them, and with the toys...

The ADOS generally takes from 30 to 60 minutes to administer. During this time the examiner provides a series of opportunities for the subject to show social and communication behaviors relevant to the diagnosis of autism.[2] Each subject is administered activities from just one of the four modules. The selection of an appropriate module is based on the developmental and language level of the referred individual. The only developmental level not served by the ADOS is that for adolescents and adults who are nonverbal.[1] A revision, the ADOS-2, is currently in development with a release goal date of May 17, 2012. It will include improved algorithms for Modules 1 to 3 and a new Toddler Module that facilitates assessment in children ages 12 to 20 months.[4]

I think it depends, here they do, but I've heard several people say otherwise on gaga

No.. they had me answer a bunch of questions about her.. and then they watched her for several hours.. and.. made an appointment for us to come back on the 20th after a psychologist has had the opportunity to review the info.
