Such a load...

I got a letter in the mail today from DS's psychologist stating that since we haven't seen her since Nov. 2011 that she's closing his case and ending care through her. Mind you I've tried to get an appointment since then, but she was out having surgery then they told me that she was booked until the end of the year or beginning of next and that if they had a cancellation they were supposed to call me! This is just freaking great! It took forever to find a psychologist and now I have to find another...grrr... I'm so livid.

I would call them. Tell them what you just told us.

yes call them and tell them what has happened... It can be seen as patient abandonment......I am learning about medical law and abandonement as we speak. They have to give you at least 30 days notice that they are ending your care by a letter. Whithin those 30 days, you should be able to be seen. The office should also make reccomendations for other providers in your area as well.

Also, when a provider is out on surgery, vacation, or an emergency, they must provide a back up to their patients.

Personally, I wouldn't want to go to a place that was that booked up. I would feel like the care they provide is not a one-on-one thing and that I would be just another patients that they will most likely forget about. Sorry you are dealing with this.

They didn't give me a 30 day anything. They wrote the letter on the 17th of May and it states IN the letter that May 17th was the day that they closed his case. I'm JUST getting it today. I called but got no answer so I left a message for them to return my call which I haven't received. It's a load of crap. I'm just going to try to find another one who might actually be able to HELP us...
