..Sleeping in his cot..!!!

Hiya guys.
I have this big problem with my son wanting to be rocked to sleep continuosly. I have tried laying him in his cot with his dummy and hoping he will fall asleep by himself.. but all he does he cry really loudly.. should i leave him crying till he falls asleep or should i pick him up/??

Watching cuz we have the same problem. Were not doing CIO but he does cry a little. We have a routine bath, bottle, book in bed. I lay him down read him a story and pat his back. He crys after I leave but only for a second and then falls asleep, just have to be consistent.itll take some time

How old is the child?

His 8 months old.. so a little young for a book i think..

He has his routine bath and bottle and goes down to sleep around 9pm.. he normally has a good night but its getting him to sleep is the difficult part..  
would you say it is ok to leave him in his cot to cry to himself to sleep??

Kids should be read to from birth! It's wonderful for them

and being rocked ot sleep is normal at this age. You'll haved to research what methods you'd want to use if you don't want to rock him anymore

never knew reading to them was good for them.. i never thought they would appreciate it being so young. im defintaely going to try reading to him at bedtime and see if that works... x

Also even though I don't really believe in CIO I wouldn't do it untill he's a year old. Read up on it, it's not juat letting them lay there and cry for hours.
