Honestly, I was 18 when I had him (young & dumb!), I didn't really think about alot of things until AFTER he was born.. like a few weeks after. I thought circumcising was the "normal" thing to do, so I did it. After I paid the 150 bucks & heard him screaming in the room, I immediately regretted it... I researched everything else from then on out. Come to find it's NOT as common as it used to be (starting to be 50/50 I believe), & there really are no benefits to it. Everything I did think, turns out is a wives tail. It was just unnecessary... there's nothing I can do about it though, but I still wish I researched before doing so.

i don't like it when people pretend there's no risk in cosmetically altering a baby's genitals.

we should all have a healthy fear of knives around our babies.

I agree with you- I just think she should do her research and decide if it's worth the risk for herself.

well thank you for all your experiences .... i have done a lot of research and i just fell that there are so many risks that i would be taking if i were to get my baby circumcised... so i will let him make the decision on his own when he is older if he disides to then that alright and if hes fine with it not being circumcised then its not to late....

Your welcome mama, i hope all goes well with the birth & your both happy/healthy afterwards

I won't be circing this bub once he is born either.

Go with your gut, if you feel content with your decision then thats great.
There is no 'right' or 'wrong' answer here.

We did not circumcise. The rate of circumcision in the US is dropping drastically, where circumcised children in the US are actually the minority now. It is purely cultural and cosmetic, and evidence that circumcision is beneficial for health reasons is very poor. Circumcision reduces penile sensitivity by up to 70%. The foreskin DOES have another important purpose- it protects the penis. If the foreskin had no purpose, men would not be born with it. The child WILL feel pain during the procedure. It's simply not my choice to make.

The intact penis (before the foreskin retracts, which it will be for the first few years) needs no special cleaning.

We did not because I couldn't find a single reason to justify the risk or to take away his right to choose that. I believe in making choices for him when they are necessary, but I couldn't find any reasons that would make routine infant circumcision necessary. Also, his father is intact and has never has a single infection, UTI, or other problem. His Mother has her first son circ'ed and regretted it so much that she left him intact.

I was thinking this. . . lol

I did laugh though. The responses seem to be mostly anti-circ and she did circ, so it seems an odd thing to post anyways.

I got my son circumcised but it had to be redone since a lot of the foreskin was still left on his penis. I wish it was done better the first time.
