Nipples for breastfed babies?

posted 5th May
Okay, so I just went and got a medela pump and style advance because of some upcoming surgery that I'm having I need to have some milk stored for Kayden. Well I don't know what kind of nipples to get for the bottles. There's so many to choose from and I need one that will be good for him seeing that he's been strictly breastfed for the past three and a half months. Any suggestions would be great. I don't know if it matters but he is 15 lbs and 27 1/2 inches.

The only nipples that Gianna would use were the evenflo comfi. I've read that the playtex drop in system is supposed to be easy to transition breastfed babies but she wouldn't take those

I find it depends on your own nipple and the baby.My first took gerber and my second wouldn't take any(I had to put her on a soft sippy). The avent nipples were said to look more like women's nipples, but my kid wouldn't touch them?

That was one that I was looking at. Thank you for the input.

How early can you use sippy cups though? I would love for him to never take a bottle but I think it's still too soon.

Aw I just read your labor story and I think we delivered at the same hospital, haha! I see the SHC cup in the background of one of the pics...

anyway my son is breastfed and I occasionally gave him a bottle the first few months, he used playtex drop-ins, he had no issues switching back and forth... then we stopped for a few weeks, maybe a month or so, and when I tried again he wouldn't take it! he will not take ANY nipple, not even the ones shaped like his binki :/ so I've tried a sippy but he just kinda chews on it.. I've tried 2 types of sippys and I plan to keep looking because I need a little independence haha

good luck and I would definitely recommend trying something soon because a lot of breastfed babies will get used to the breast and not want anything different.. one of the nursing books I read said if you plan to use a bottle at all while breastfeeding it needs to be used at least once a week, which I have found to be true from experience..

Get a couple different ones and test them to see how he'll take them. Also have a small cup on hand for if he refuses the bottle completely. You could just cup feed and avoid the nipple problem altogether. You should google cup feeding.

So I went and got a few different kinds. I know that no one suggested it but they had the Adiri Natural Nurser which looks a lot like the breast so I decided to try it. Well it took a little while but Kayden actually drank about three ounces from it. I didn't even bother to try to feed him with it because he is too focused on the real thing with me so Dusty fed him and it worked after a while. He really enjoyed it too seeing that was the first time he ever got to feed him. I'm so excited because now I'm not as nervous about the surgery seeing that I know if something happens then he will still be able to eat.
Anyway, thank you for all of the input!
Oh, and here is the bottle that I'm talking about. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's worth it if it will work.

Alot of girls on here didn't like these. You'll have to tell us when it's all said and done if they were any good.
