I hate child support

I seriously do. SO and I have court on the 12th. We didn't know what it was about until SO got his letter, they sent mine last week and his was in the mail today, and it said he needed to pay $500 to them by the 12th or he's going to jail. SO lost his job and was out of work from March until the beginning of May. He notified domestic relations about it and he also called and let him know when he got his new job. He sent them his new pay stub and they took out a payment on his last pay check. We thought everything was fine. He even got a notice in the mail saying how much and how often they were going to take money out of his check. He had no problem with it.

Now they're saying he needs to pay up. He was working at Dicks since last month. He just recently got a better job yesterday and is working there today. But they took out the payment and said nothing. We're not even going to the payment enforcer like we did the last time, he has to go in front of the judge.

I've been calling all morning, I was told the enforcer is in her office. I left a few messages. I think it's dumb as hell that they're going to put him in jail even though he has a job and is paying. And there's also no way in hell he owes $500. I wouldn't even get that in 5 months of him not paying. It makes no sense to me.

I'm about to just send child support $500 and just take it back off the card when they money goes through for everything LO needs. Why do they think it's a good idea to send someone to jail who's paying and making money now?

I'm so frustrated and having a smurfing anxiety attack now.

It's not even the child suppoer itself, its the smurfing county and smurf that screws everything up. They always threaten to shut off my benefits and health care because of somethign of mine they've misplaced.

If I didn't need my daycare assistance, I wouldn't have even filed for child support. Their office is so messed up. I still haven't gotten the first payment SO made all the way back last September. I just don't understand why they will put people in jail for being a little behind when they're trying to pay it back. Or to threaten to suspend their license when driving is the only way to get to work around here. We don't have public transportation and work is 26 miles away and you have to take the highway.

We're not married. In PA you need to have a child support order to receive or even apply for an assistance. They see it as a source of income and they need to make sure you're not over the guidelines with child support. He was only paying $128 a month. But they were taking more out of his check for some reason. Idk why which is also something we need to find out.

PA system is so smurfed, two of my best friends won't apply for any benefits right now because of the child support issue

That is so crazy that your state is so aggressive. My ex, owes $10,204.25 as of now and they aren't doing smurf to collect or enforce the order and he is purposely not paying.

O thats stupid   I live in KY, out here they include the SO's income if both are living together. not sure how it works if not living together. Hopefully yall are able to work it out. It would suck for him to go to jail when he is actually supporting his child, just due to having to make the system happy.

They dont do anything? thats terrible!! in Kentucky, you lose your license if you get to $2,500. And jail to do work release if it gets to another amount (not sure that amount)

They have done nothing! It is insane... It's been years and years of nothing and he owes $463 a month so it's just adding up like crazy.

Are you guys living together? If so, why is he still paying child support when he is supporting the child?

We're not living together. And I asked if we did if he'd still have to pay for me to qualify for daycare assistance and they said he still does since we're not married. We plan on moving in together soon but now this is just another things setting us back and SO could be going to jail.
