Desk job while pregnant

posted 5th May
I was wondering if any of you ladies had some advice for me on how to sit more comfortably while I'm working. I sit at a desk all day long and my legs and butt start hurting real bad after a while and I'm getting siatic nerve pain and I can only imagine it will get worse as I progress. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone used those big bouncy balls to sit on while working? Any ideas on how to modify my chair or desk? What worked for you girls?

Also looking for answers on this, I was told to get a box to keep my feet elevated, if that helps any..

Try taking a small pillow to sit on so your butt doesn't get as sore, and if you can try to get up and stretch every 30 minutes. and I feel your pain with the sciatic nerve pain.

try to walk around every 30-60 min... Even if its just a quick loop around the office. I'm an office manager for a company but our receptionist is out of town and I have to cover him while hes gone. I've been sitting at a desk all day for the last couple weeks and my body hurts so bad. I've trying to do at home yoga-that helps too.

i used to stand all day, and switched to a desk job for baing prego. the best advice is not to cross your legs unless you sit indian style and try to sit up ast straight as possible.... thats about it

I think I'm going to bring in a pillow. Its hard for me to get up and walk around though. I'm the receptionist, so I'm kind of chained to my desk, I don't even get a lunch break I have to eat my lunch at my desk! I am going to talk to my boss about letting me walk around the building, she seems like she cares about me being pregnant, well a little more worried about my maternity leave and who will do my job and if I will come back to work.

Man, I wish I had a desk job.

I lift heavy speakers and cases all day and stand around.
Go show production jobs!

im a receptionist also but i get up every so often to check the fax machine even if i know theres nothing in there. If my body really starts to hurt from sitting i stand near my desk. I also placed a pillow (like one of those small square ones that come with a couch) behind my back so that im sitting up a bit starighter. I also place my feet on my computer modem alot cuz its under my desk and kind of sit indian style like that.
Also I carry tylenol with me when i feel that its really getting bad. I think it helps a tiny bit but its the only thing i can do.
GOOD LUCK!!! i havent been able to find anything thats helped too much. . . my doctor said thats apart of pregnanct just take tylenol and use a heating pad and my mom said it comes with the territory.
UGH!!

ugh I feel your pain! I'm due a couple weeks before you. Anyway, I have boxes under the desk by where I sit most of the time so I elevate my feet most of the time I'm sitting. Also, I switched my desk chair for one of the chairs in the conference room. Which has pretty good cushioning and it reclines a lot... so it takes pressure off my back when need be. When I start getting bigger I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to bring a small pillow for my lower back. Hope this helps.

i sit in a wierd kind of indian style.. . i cant pull both of my legs up on my chair so i rest my leg on my computer modem and then cross the other one over that in an indian stlye-ish way lol.
