Grade B strep????

I was tested positive for grade b strep, i have been reading about it online and am really freaked out! i read that it can cause infant death and mental retardation!! does anyone else have it and what has your doctor said..mine hasnt told me much! pleaseeeee helpp i am driving myself insane crying non stop because i think my baby is going to be handicapp

they give you antibiotics at birth so it doesnt affect the baby, alot of women get it dont worry its common.I had it and everything was fine

Err... If you are talking about Group B Strep, it's not really anything to freak out about. They give you antibiotics while you are in labor to make sure it isn't passed from you to baby. Plus they know you have tested positive for it so they know to look for it with the baby. Stop worrying so much... It's not good for the baby.  
I also tested positive for it with my first pregnancy and my daughter is healthy as can be.

Is this the same as group beta strep? If so, Itested positive and my baby is just fine. In fact, about 30% of pregnant women test positive for this and thier babies are fine too. The only difference between you and women who test negative for this is you will recieve antibiotics in your iv during labor to prevent spreading the bacteria to your baby. Don't stress over this...it is NOT a big deal  

Its very common, no worries. Most women have it and it just requires antibiotics during labor.

yea its group b strep..sorry..but i geuss im a high risk because i have had 3 UTI's with it..has anybody had UTI's with it?
