LABOR STORY !

So I'm a little over a week late posting my labor story .....


April 24th - 830 Doctor's appointment (Lennon's due date was the 24th) I had initially wanted to go over my due date, just to see if I could do it by myself, and the point of this appointment was to see if the baby & I were healthy enough to go over the due date, and let things happen naturally . So they hooked me up to a monitor, and realized that I was having pretty regular contractions (that I couldn't feel, at all) but that everytime I'd have a contraction, the baby's heart beat would decrease . So the doctor sent me to the hospital at around 1015 so they could monitor me for a while longer, and decide if they were going to induce me, and to see if the baby's heart rate would stay regular with contractions . Well, at about 1, they admitted me, and decided that they were going to induce, even though the babies heart rate had leveled off, and had become regular . I was at about 3 cm when I got to the hospital, 85% effaced . And at 330, they broke my water (weirdest sensation I've ever felt, in my entire life .) and started my pit drip at about 4 . I decided to wait for my epidural, and chose to get IV meds . When the pitocin started to work, at about 430, my contractions got pretty painful, so I got my first dose of demerol . Which eased my pain . From then on, it was just a waiting game . My contractions got FIERCE at about 11, and then I got my epidural . But at about midnight, the epidural had moved out of the "potential space" because I had moved around so much in my bed, & it started to wear off . No matter how many times I pushed that damn button . So, when the epidural started wearing off, conviniently my contractions came more frequently, and much more painful . And at about 1, it was worn off completely, I could move my legs freely, easily ! I could touch my belly, my crotch, my legs, and feel EVERYTHING. So the last 3 hours were excruciating . I cried between contractions, and was exhausted . Not to mention, I hadn't had breakfast the morning of my doctors appt, because I had a breakfast date with my dad . And at the hospital, I could only have ice chips, NOT EVEN WATER, just fucking ice chips . So on top of all the pain I was in because of labor, I had a headache from HELL because I was so hungry . At about 415, the nurse checked me, and I was at a 9, 100% effaced, and she called my doctor in . The doctor got there at about 430, and I started pushing a little after that . And after about 15-20 minutes of pushing, Lennon Ruth was born ! At 4:59 am, & she weighed 8 lbs 7 oz, & was 20.5 inches long . And she is quite possibly the most perfect thing I've everrrrr seen !

That was my fear too. (with my daughter) Only it didn't wear off I had mean nurses that turned it off after like 3 hours. So I delivered without it on. They had to use forcepts (sp) and I ripped a lot but at least I was half numb and didn't feel it all!!! stupid nurses!!!

If I wouldn't have slid around in my bed so much, I don't think my catheter would've moved, but GOOD LUCK ! i hope yours won't stop working either !   but the good thing is, it's not one of those pains that you remember, I couldn't describe it if I tried, because the only part I really really remember vividly was when they handed me the baby .

I know I was ready to boot them all!! I was in the same situation as you where they would only let me have ice chips and I was so thirsty. Every time I'd convince my husband to give me a sip they'd take my water away and make him get me ice chips. I had cotton mouth it sucked. And I was soooo hungry I threw up and I couldn't even have water after that. I'm glad I'm not delivering there this time!!!

I'm sorry your epi wore off but that is very true!I delivered naturally and I can't even really remember the pain, I just remember having him in my arms for the first time.

The no water, but ice thing ? What is that about, I don't understand . But my nurses were nice, my doctor SUCKED. She was a cold bitch . And when the baby's shoulders got stuck, she just yanked her out of me, instead of one shoulder at a time, and i ripped all the way up to my prepuce (sp?) the little skin that covers your clitoris . And my doctor didn't fix it, so now it's always exposed, and painful as shit if anything touches it . BITCH!!!!!!!

yea i know how them epiderals are mine how you say was put in wrong soo it numbed my boobs and my belly and not my you know what but they put it in at 1045 and i had my baby at 1151 soo it didnt even take effect lol soo i had a natural birth just had pain killers after lol but they turned it off before i pushed but what meds got in my body didnt take effect till after the baby came out


That sucks they didnt give you water they gave me water because i was like i want fucking water i keep chokeing on the ice cubes haha and they feed me because i kept feeling sick to my tummy lol but after i had my baby she had to be tranceford to the NICU she quit breathing but shes home now.....................

Good Hell I'm so sorry about you croch!!! I had a clueless doctor!! It's funny now that I think about it! My daughter was stuck for 3 1/2 hours before he pulled her out. But I bet he only said 2 sentences the whole time he delivered and after. He was the oncall doc and I was like ok. He had no idea she was 4 weeks early and told my husband dang you better hope she doesn't have any babies bigger than this one because they won't come out without a c-section. Your wife is built really small. My daughter weighed 5 lbs 8 oz. Kinda funny now he was totally clueless about everything but at least he was nice. I'm sorry but I'm glad you're ok and your baby is ok...
