posted 3rd Jun '12
I dont know if i should post this here but if anyone shares there story i dont want them to be attacked if not ill delete it and move it.

I had a stat d and c after my daughter was born because i could not deliver the after birth and the OB was only getting chuncks and putting me in lots of pain.

I was put under and they did the d and c.

I lost a pint of blood and got 2 to be safe.

if u had one how long were u in pain? what was recovery like?

Im not allowed out of bed i have a cath and im in a bit of pain.

never had it done before myself but i did work in recovery room for 6 months as a fill in while another nurse was out for back surgery---we take caths out asap due to risk of uti's so i would think you shouldnt have too much pain after 5-7 days and have the cath out as soon as your able to walk to the bathroom and pee on your own--they sometime will remove it for 4-6 hours and see if you go on your own and if not they will place it back in

ohh got ya---but even still they will remove it asap...the longer it stays in the weaker the bladder muscles get from not being used...you should feel much better within a few days as long as there are no complications

I had a d&c and laproscopy, so a bit different. But i was laid up in bed for a week due to slight, itty bitty, complication during the precedure, and the fact that i was in a ton of pain.
Lots of motrin and rest. I didn't have the blood loss you did, so it might take some extra time for your body to feel back to normal.
Congrats on your little girl, and i hope you feel better soon.

I had slight contractions and felt off for about a week. I had a d&c for the same reason, my placenta failed to detach. They tried to rip it out too and I about kicked the bitch through the wall, that was so painful. Now when I bled afterwards it was a slight pinkish/orange color which I was told is normal and I only bled for about 2 weeks... then got my normal AF 2 weeks later.

wow, some doctors are special. I don't understand why they don't pay closer attention to paitents sometimes, I understand they have a lot but little mistakes like that can have huge impacts. I was only 17 weeks when I had to deliver mine, so naturally the placenta did not want to detach, I can still remember the feeling of the doctor trying to tear it out, it was one of the worst pains I have ever felt in my life.
