when does child support request become effective?

my friend told me she hadto sign some papers for cild support and her BD and her just recieved their court date she wanted to know if its in effect from that day or from the day she filed?

then she doesnt get any child support..

I filed when my son was a few months but they made him pay back from when my son was born.

she told me she got a letter in the mail saying she has to show up

over here its if you dont show up theyll close the case and rule against you and that means they'll rule in the fathers favour saying the mother didnt show to court therefore she doesnt want a child support agreement and case closed.

If I were her id be getting my arse to court.
