re: when does child support request become effective?

It just depends on if your state is retroactive, Georgia is not. I filed child support in Aug and didn't get a court date until Jan. He requested a DNA test in Jan and the DNA test was done in Feb. He went back to court in Apr and his support payments started on Jun 1st. It depends on the state wheather they make him start paying from the time she filed. Also, I got papers everytime that he had to go to court so that I could show up if I wanted to but I didn't have to go. The only appt that I had to go to was the DNA testing or they would have closed the case.
