If you have bladder issues!

If you have over active bladder, Interstitial cystitis or bladder spasms what are your symptoms and what have you done to treat it?
Does the treatment help?


Doctors think I have one of these so I am just looking for advice.

I have urinary frequency, blood in urine(not visible), flank pain and this wrenching pain in my bladder sometimes when I have to pee. :/ Its so extremely painful! The doctors dont know what is wrong but think it may be one of those.


So, idk... I am wondering as to what symptoms others experienced and what treatment they had.

I have OAB.
They were going to prescribe me medicine for it but I was trying to concieve so I couldn't take it.
My symptoms were/are urinary frequency (going literally like every 10-15 minutes, pain when it becomes too full which truthfully isn't very long to begin with, unrinary leakage during the day with sneezing, laughing too hard, coughing, ect. and also (one I'm not proud of at all) is urinary incontience at night.
I went to a urologist to discover why I was having all these symptoms and problems.
They will perform a test on your bladder. They will insert a VERY tiny catheter in both your rectum and your uretha. They will have you sit on the comode and make you try to pee. It records everything your muscles do with your bladder.
Not only do i have OAB but a normal bladder holds 350-500 CCs. Mine only hold 170.

Yeah, my symptoms are so random. I kept getting prescribed antibiotics for
it when finally as of a month ago doctors agreed it wasn't an infection.
I have traces of blood in my urine, a wrenching pain in my badder, urinary frequency kinda like you describe but it's off and on. Sometimes I have to go every 10 minutes...and its not much pee at all that comes out and other times its a bit more normal (every 45 minutes to an hour) and then randomly (here is the weird part) I get this horrible flank pain like a kidney stone but doctors havent found any kidney stones!

Yeah I get them. I sometimes even have to take tylonel because it's gets bad enough that I'll hold my sides in pain.
You should mention about getting your bladder checked out. You may have a small bladder like me too.

I never used to have these problems until child birth and a car accident I was in 6 months PP(they got even worse).
They give me percocette and vicodin for my side pain... nothing else works for it.

Does the medication help?

I have an appointment to get checked out on Monday actually at 9AM! I hope it goes ok. I am scared it's something they can't cure like Interstitial Cystitis... :[ Were you scared at first too?
Did you get diagnosed with a crap load of over things before finding out what was wrong?

No, I never really thought anything was wrong. But at 20 years old, and still wetting the bed, being married, and trying for a child, I told the doctors I didn't want to be in diapers while I waited to put my own son in them.
I was however worried that I would have to have surgery for my bladder and I still do worry.
The medicine doesn't really help me.
But I wouldn't worry yourself. They'll figure it out.

I don't wet myself of anything. I have leaked a tiny amount when I try and hold it in too long or when I sneeze really intense and kegals never do anything lol.
I am sorry you are going through this too. Its really smurffy and really painful! I read that some foods can be triggers for people. Fruit, tea, carbonated soda, spicy foods... Most of which I don't eat besides tea and fruit -__- So idk... I am going to see a natural doctor after the urologist. I am hoping there is a lifestyle change I can do to relieve the symptoms some... I hear the medication causes awful side effects?

well, the medication I take, is at nighttime so I sleep through most of it.
But I am a soda freak but I won't be able to cut that out of my diet.

So, the doctor said he thinks it is OAB or IC.
He put me on medication today to see if it help. I took it two hours ago and I think its already helping some because I am not in as much pain.
I am going to give it a few more days before really deciding but so far so good!

How long did it take you to notice an affect from your medicine?
He also said he is going to help me with dietary changes and bladder strengthening in order to get over this without needing medicine forever!
I just hope it works!
