Bed wetting

posted 2nd Jun '12
Any advice or anything? My 3 year old daughter is on day 5 of wetting the bed at night. She will do really good for a couple weeks, then will wet for a few nights, then back to doing good. I don't really want to put her back into pullups or anything though.

Make sure you don't give her anything to drink a couple of hours before bedtime. Have her use the potty before she goes to bed, get her up before you go to bed and have her go, bring a little potty in her room for her to go in.

I make sure she doesn't have anything to drink atleast 3 hours before she goes to bed. I make her go before she goes to bed. Then wake her before I go to bed so she can go again. I don't really want to bring a potty into the room for her to use. She sleeps with me, we have brand new carpet in the room but we have an attached bathroom that is only 10 feet away.

I guess my sister was a bed wetter when she was younger and the doctors ended up putting her on some kind of medication which somehow helped her. I feel bad for my daughter because she is very embarrassed by it. I don't make it into a big deal or anything, but she always just feels so bad about it.

aw ya it makes me sad too.. she used to say "i was just sweating mama i didnt pee"   but youre doing the right thing about not making a big deal about it. No drinks before bed DOES help alot. but as for my little one shes gotta wake up before anything really works.. hope yours does better!

The hardest part of potty training my daughter was night time. I kept her in pull-ups at night until she was like 3 1/2. She was fine all day, even during naps with her undies on but for some reason she would always wet herself at night, and it would not even wake her up. I figured she would learn on her own time, and her bladder was still immature. One day I just decided she was going to bed in undies, and I gave her a little pep talk lol she has been good ever since. They do prescribe a med called ddavp, it comes in pill form and nasal spray. Good luck !

The weird thing about it is that my daughter has been potty trained since she was 16 months and this bed wetting has really only started a couple months ago. She used to only have an accident here or there, maybe once a month, but now it is like a regular thing. I think I will mention it to her doc at her next checkup.

It could just be a developmental thing. We went through something similar with my daughter, and it just got better over time. The biggest thing is not letting her have anything to drink before bed, and we also leave a potty in her room so it's close to her bed, and she can go at night if she needs to.
