Awkward Question...9 year old boys...

posted 2nd Jun '12
So my little cousin spent the night here last night and was taking a shower this morning (after a bird pooped on his head while he was playing outside LOL) anyway he found a tick on the bottom of his penis and couldn't get it off, so I had to help him...and he had a LOT of pubic hair already...I did not expect that. It was difficult getting the tick off because it was really attached...and I kept pulling his hair! I felt terrible lol..But is it normal for hair to already be there? sorry for the TMI...I just didn't expect that at all when he asked for help!

some kids hit puberty early. i started growing hair in the 5th grade, along with boobs and had my period by age 10.

I wouldn't expect that either... I think kids are starting to go through puberty a lot earlier now though, right? Was he over weight? I'm just asking that because I've heard that being over weight makes kids go through puberty sooner.

I guess it is like when girls start to develop early and start their periods at that age.

My son will be 10 in a couple of month and I don't think he has any, but I haven't really checked recently either. He is going through changes though so I don't think it would be out of the ordinary for a 9 year old boy to have some hair down there... I mean girls are getting their periods at that age nowadays so it doesn't surprise me that a boy would be going through the change now either.

I honestly don't know. My son might have, but I haven't seen him nude since he was like 5 or 6.

I guess it can be normal...i had to wear a bra at 10 because I had boobs...and started my period the same year...but I didn't start growing hair until I was 11 I think...

It just took me by surprise I guess...and I felt terrible that when I was trying to get the tick I kept pulling hair! I was like Im so sorry!

My eleven year old sil started her period last year at ten, so it doesn't seem out the ordinary for kids now.
it was practically unheard of when i was that age though.

I agree with this! Kids seem to hit puberty early these days. I started my period when I was nine   did get to go to the pool party I had planned that week   cant believe I still remember that lol!

He didn't act like it at all lol...but I was kind of haha...I haven't had to see him naked since he was potty training lol...so it was kind of weird when he told me his issue and I had to help him...
My son is only 16 months so he is pretty much the only little boy I've had to mess with for a while!
