Losing weight..

posted 2nd Jun '12
How possible do you ladies think it would be to lose 15-20lbs in 3 months?
I know I have to take it easy-ish for awhile but I really feel great. I am going to start taking walks and stuff with the babies and kids probably starting next Sunday.
I want to lose 15-20 pounds by mid August and be toned up!
Any good tips or ideas? Is it possible?? lol
Thanks!

I've been successful losing weight by counting calories and walking every morning.

I use myfitnesspal to log and keep track of my calories...it's an awesome site! If you're breastfeeding you can factor that in as well to make sure you're getting enough calories.

2lbs a week is tops what you should aim for, but 1 is more reasonable. This leads you to 4-8lbs a month, which is 12-24 lbs in 3months.

This means it's possible to lose that. However, given how muscle works, if you are building muscle the weight will creep off slower even though you lose inches. So if you work out building up muscles (which is insanely good for you and VERY beneficial in the long run), then you may see less weight coming off.

I also use My Fitness Pal, and I have lost 12 lbs in less than a month an a half.

Definitely possible

I think losing the inches is more what I am aiming for. I want a bikini body back so I guess that makes more since! lol

its definitely possible. if you drink soda or eat alot of sweets. cut that out. first thing, that alone with drinking more water will lower your weight alone. like another woman said try myftinesspal it works well. i have been using it and losing weight for 3 weeks now (i am already down 11 lbs as of last sunday) i dont know what your fitness level is but trying to use ur walk as a chance to push ur self some. when u start out walking (pushing a stroller im assuming) try to do intervals of faster walking (or jogging) really work up a sweat. if you can do that a couple times a week you will see the difference soon. to tone ur body you can do all kinds of things. like a dvd (30DS) or you can do the 100 workout (look it up i dont have a link right now but people say it works great)

I'm going to start with walking since I just had my twins 5 days ago lol. But after I feel completely better and stuff I'm going to start going back to jogging. I used to jog every morning, but it will probably be moved to night now. Thanks! I'm going to look that stuff up!

oh hahaha i missed that you are only 5 days pp. yea dont start to fast. but you will lose some of that EASY anyway. i lost 25 lbs in a month after my son was born in 2010 just by eating healthy and walking and staying active. (that was after he was born so 25 lbs apart from the 15 i lost when he was born) and in 3 months i had lost 65 lbs (i was eating really healthy and counting calories and doing zumba and other workouts 5 times a week)

Do you by any chance know if that 100 workout helps tone too? or just lose the weight?

When I started lifting weights I seriously lost a bunch of inches pretty quickly, but the scale didn't move at all. I'd make sure you measure to see real progress in that way.

Thanks everyone for all your input! I looked up that 100 workout and it seems challenging lol, but I really like it! Plus running I think that will do the trick!
I drink water all the time and already eat right and stuff so hopefully I hit my goal! lol

It's very easy! They have a HUGE data base with all kinds of foods/brands so chances are everything you eat will be easy to find. You just create an account and given your age, weight, height, and how active you are it will give you a certain amount of calories that you should shoot for. Then you just log your meals each time you eat! It's very interesting to see just how many calories you're putting into your body everyday!

Aw add me! sapadgett

I lost 15 lbs using it last year and then ALL of it plus some crept back..Lol

I'm currently trying to lose about 20-25 lbs...I've lost 2 since starting back counting calories last Sat and 5 total. I'm always up for adding people that log everyday...seems easier to stay on track that way!
