Call her and ask. It's a pretty general antibiotic so it could be for anything from a sinus infection to a urinary infection.

And pink eye would be drops, not liquid antibiotics.

Quoting Harajuku Girl:" SO's ex assured us the kids were not sick. She obviously lied, because one of them came packed with an ... [snip!] ... he would be taking this medication for, if not pink eye? I'm pretty pissed because I don't know what I'm dealing with  "
Can you or him not ask the ex what the child has?

I have no idea what their agreement is, but in our court order, I have to tell him if our DD is sick and what it is.

It is used to treat bacterial infections. Such as ear, skin, eye, and respiratory infections.

So the cough could be a sign of what it is being used for

all of which if a 3 week old were to get could get pretty serious. I'd find out for sure if he's contagious and worry from there. After 48 hours on antibiotics the person/child is no longer contagious.

IMO....its pretty messed up that SO's ex would send(lie about) a sick child to be around an infant that young

EXACTLY!!! depending on his age, he has prolly had the vacine for whooping cough and not likely he will get it now. ALSO, it is very contagious and noticable, not just a simple cough

He may have been on the antibiotics for a week already. We don't know. And maybe the ex got it cleared with a doc for the kid to be around an infant. We don't know that either. And maybe OP is an OCD freakazoid and freaks the smurf out so the ex didn't want to mention anything even though he's about to finish the antibiotic.

We don't really "know" much about what's going on or why she lied etc., but chances are if the kid is on antibiotics already, it's probably not contagious.

I wouldn't be letting the kids touch or hold or play with the baby anyway, whether they were sick or not, so I don't really see what the big deal is....

Aside from her lying, but again, we don't know why she did that or what the details are. I don't know how old this kid is, but I used to take doxy for acne and it's an antibiotic. I was never sick. I only took it for acne.

Yeah, I don't understand how she could send her child there with meds and expect you guys to give them to him without telling you what's going on. Infant or not, I can't believe she would risk her own childs health like that
