coughing up bloody stuff

Okay, the last 2-3 days I have had a really sore throat, congestion, and a nasty cough. Well starting today I started coughing up pieces of gross green stuff with little bits of blood in it. Is this normal? Or should I be worried?

Dh's doc told him that if you START your coughing or vomiting with blood, it's a problem. There's blood somewhere where it shouldn't be. If you've been coughing or vomiting for a couple days and THEN see blood, you've irritated your espophogus and it's like you've scratched it and not to worry too much unless it continues past the sickness or gets much worse.

Sounds like it could be bronchitis.
