7 WEEK OLD REFUSING TO FEED!! PLZ HELP!!!

posted 2nd Jun '12
My baby girl Eabha is 7 weeks 2 days old and all day today she has been refusing to eat. She is normally a pretty big eater, at least 6-7 oz per feeding. Eabha woke this morning at 4:30 am for a feed and then again at 8 am since after that she has been refusing the breast, she screams and pulls away. i thought maybe that my let down was a bit to quick for her so pumped some of and tried again- that didn't work so i tried feeding her what was in the bottle there was 3 oz she took about 2 the rest just poured from her mouth everywhere it was a battle to get her to take any of it =( - i've been offering her food all day she will latch on for a minute or so then pull away screaming and just wont go anywhere near it. shes a happy baby smiling and grinning no temp she has a perfect amount of wet diapers and pooy ones too and she has had a couple of naps today =) she hasn't got wind and shes burped as well. i can't pump enough milk for the bottles so i have formula with me and i've tried this too i made up a 5 oz one tonight and she took about 2 oz while putting up a good fight. i'm at a loss !!why could this be happening??? oh she also has a dummy... and today she seems obsessed with it, it seems to be all she wants, after trying to get her to feed she crys for it and wakes up when it falls out begging to have it back, usually she can take it or leave it but today it seems its all she wants =( i know shes hungry she keeps poking her tounge out and opening her mouth! I have no idea what to do... i'm afraid she will get dehydrated or something, what could be causing this? any ideas greatly appreciated. TIA

if she is having the right amount of wet diapers, I wouldn't be too fussed over it

Maybe she is just having an off day. Or doesn't need to eat as much today.

At 7 weeks, she might be just over a growth spurt, and her feedings will be less, until the next growth spurt

If it keeps up for another day or two, I'd consult the pedi.
