Cloth diapers.

I've actually been kind of thinking about doing cloth diapers compared to just disposable. Can someone give me more information about it? At least someone that has been using them avidly for awhile now and tell me not only the pluses but how it would work? I guess my biggest thing is wondering how I'll have enough diapers for him throughout the day. He's a breastfed baby and has a lot of wet diapers and a decent amount of soiled ones. I'm sure I could get information on Google or something but I would really like real live people telling me how they do it and why they do.
I would really love to try it out and don't see why not! Better for the world right?

I really like giggle life diapers.
I did spend $200, but I got 40 diapers and 80 inserts.
They are GREAT diapers. They are one size so its takes
some tampering to get it just right, but I like them.

My son was/is breastfed, i've been using cloth for nearly 3 years.
These are the types;
AIO - all in one diapers, just put it on like a sposie. Bad absorbency, leak and slow to dry
Pocket diapers - my favourites. It's a wrap with a soft lining with a little space to put in the absorbent padding. Put on as one piece like a sposie. Take out the pad for washing and quick drying.
Hybrid Diapers - actually these are my favourites. You can use them like pocket diapers, or put disposable pads in, or put prefolds/dish clothes in them. Charlie Banana rock
Fitted/shaped diapers - this is a 2 part system. You put on the cloth diaper, with snaps, hook and loop or using a pin/nappy nippa. Then you put a waterproof wrap on top. These are the best for EBF poop explosions, the best absorbency and ok for drying.
Prefolds or flats - you fold the cloth then pin/nappy nippa it was a snappy. Then put a wrap on top. I've never used these, but they are the cheapest and lots of mama's like them. Better for younger babies i think.
My favourites -
Fitted diapers - Motherease Sandys, and Motherease One Size.
Wraps - Motherease Airflow, Gen Y Universal, Blueberry, Starbunz, wool is great you only need to wash once a month or less.
Pocket diapers - Ebay cheapies ($5 a diaper, birth to potty ;) ), Fuzzi Bunz sized diapers, Charlie Banana's, BumGenius.

I'd recommend you try one of each diaper type, so you don't end up with tons you don't like or that don't suit your baby. Every baby has a different body shape, and different brands and types will fit them better. Go shopping and have fun, there are so many cute prints, and they don't stink like sposies. Our washing machine kept breaking and i forgot how bad sposies stink lol

We mostly use pockets here- that is what I started with first baby and I still think they are prob the best combo for our family still- I would like All in ones- if I had the money, I have just recently bought 2 and I like them but if they need to be stripped that can be a bit harder(boiled or several washings if ammonia build up) I like that with pockets you can change absorbancy by adding or taking away inserts- although if you do pockets I highly highly recommend getting some inserts that are hemp or bamboo- the microfiber will work fine for awhile but I am constantly trying to strip mine because they stay stinkier in my opinion and are not as absorbent I tried prefolds with my second as a newborn because of money(we have one size fits all diapers but they are pretty bulky for a newborn unless the babe is 10 lbs). prefolds were ok i spose..but i hated that the whole prefold would be soaked when he peed- there was no way for me to avoid touching urine- i love that i dont touch any with the pockets- it is generally dry in the back where you take the inserts out:-D

i personally like prefolds and covers. or i have a few wahm Ai2s that i love and are adorable but theyre fairly expensive.
i would reccomend a trial too, to see what you like. i started off thinking that i would love pockets, and i actually kind of hate them. i was using them for overnight but i just ordered some fitteds to use with a fleece soaker. the only thing i havnt tried yet is wool, it seems like too much upkeep. i hate AIOs because they take forever to dry and are hard to clean imo
