HCG only 36? Ovarian cyst?

So I went to the ER for the ovary pain I've been having, it got really bad while I was at work so I went in. So far he said everything looks normal for being early, my hcg was only 36 and they did an ultrasound and saw no gestational sac, nothing. He said my pain was most likely a cyst and it usually will go away, but may not. And if it was an ectopic pregnancy then I wouldn't be in any pain yet because of how soon it is.


Is it normal to be that low and to also see no sac at 4 weeks? I'm 4 w 0 days as of 30 mins ago.

No clue about the numbers, sorry.. But did he not see a cyst on your ovary during the ultrasound? Just confused because you said he said "most likely". I have two on my left ovary and they were clear as day on the ultrasound.

I didn't see him even look  

At 4 weeks even my hcg levels were only 62 and they didn't see anything on my ultrasound either.

Wth..Wow. I'd call your ob and bring up the visit and what he said to see if you could get a referral for another ultrasound. Because if that is what it is yeah, it "should" go away, but especially since you're having pain I think it'd be better to know for sure so at least it could be monitored.

the number doubles every 48 hrs. taht means the next time they check you it will be around 72.

my first draw was 38.6. my second draw 48 hrs later was 123. your numbers are fine.

If you're not pregnant, the numbers are less than 5. So 36 is a lot for being only two weeks past ovulation. (barely that for you)

He found what he thought was the sac (my bladder) and I thought he had found it, but he came back and said the hcg was only 36 so that couldn't have been a sac. I have an appointment monday at health dept, but I don't know if they do ultrasounds.

being in the 30's versus the 60's actually isn't that much of a difference considering it grows exponentially...

I would probably be worried if I were in your shoes (it's in our nature), though there's nothing you can really do at this point. Also, 4 weeks preggers is VERY early... most offices won't even try an ultrasound until after 6 weeks and even then there's just a little dot.

Not really. It's hard to pinpoint ovulation exactly. If you're only 12-13 dpo that might account for the difference. It should double every 48 hours or so. A friend of mine's levels were only 42 at 15dpo. She has a perfectly healthy 2 year old now. Don't stress yet hun.
