salted vs. unsalted butter

posted 1st Jun '12
Is there really THAT big of a difference when baking? I want to make sugar cookies and only have salted.

Is there salt in the recipe? If so, just omit it and it's all good.

When anything calls for butter I use Country Crock. Lmao. So I don't think it'd make that big a difference.

If the recipe calls for salt, just don't put it in. I had to do that over Christmas. I was making sugar cookies for work and I didn't have unsalted. It worked for me lol

Just don't add the salt to the recipe if it calls for it. I personally never paid attention to salted or unsalted butter and never noticed a difference.

No, there is not just use the salted. Unsalted is just better for you

Yaaaaay, thanks ladies.

There's like a tsp of salt in the recipe.

I just don't want to waste money on new butter when I have a ton of normal butter now.
