I am screwed

posted 1st Jun '12
I am under my moms insurance still, but she just got a new job. Therefore she put in her two week notice with her current job. Her new job starts the 25th. Her new insurance is supposed to kick in right away, but who knows if its going to. Anyways, that means from the 14th-25th(or later) I will be without insurance. I am due the 16th. I can't get medicaid because they already denied it. I'm gonna have to try again though. Does anybody know about how much labor and delivery costs along with PP care? I know its going to be thousands of dollars that I don't have. Also, with my first daughter she was automatically put on Medicaid because I had it. Can I put my second daughter on Medicaid right away? I don't know how all of this works.

If it is, in fact, supposed to kick in right away it will retro back to the day she starts. Which means it will be covered.

Alot of insurance companies will pay back anything owed I think if its 1 month past. Also just bring alot of your own stuff like tylenol, soap, diapers, etc.

That would be amazing. That just means I need to have her before the 14th or after the 25th.

COBRA or HIPAA protects you against that. I can't remember which one but I'm pretty sure one does. not to mention Most of the time they don't cancel you right immediately away especially if you paid for a month or week or whatever they keep you for that period of time. Like in my company if someones employment is terminated on the 16th, they are covered til the 30th because on the 15th they paid up until the 30th....

it all depends on ur doctor and hospital for the prices. Just for my ob to see me and catch my baby before insurance its a little over 4,000 and I think the hospital for labor and delivery plus medicine and room and board is like 10,000 without insurance but hopefully you can figure something out so u dont have to do it without insurance.... good luck to u
