posted 4th May
Is there anyone who is taking Nifedipine( procardia) to stop preterm labor? If so when did you stop taking it, and how long after stopping did you deliver?\

It must be something in the water. The nurse at the hospital told me that if I was put on procardia, (which I was), that I would be taken off at thirty six weeks.

My dr is taking me off at 36 weeks as well and If I still have contractoins and am in pain and don't deliver by 38 weeks she is going to induce me. But Istill wonder what the odds of going into labor after stopping it are?

i was on terbutaline (brethine) from week 28 until week 35 and 2 days after i got off i started having contractions and ended up having to go to l&d. they gave me a shot of terbutaline and sent me home with some pills. if i miss the pill dosage i start hurting bad again so i no longer miss the pills even though i am now 36 weeks. i have something important to do tomorrow so i must make it until at least tuesday!

So have you stopped taking the pills, since you are 36 weeks?

i am still taking the pills unfortunately. when i went to l&d i was 35 weeks 4 days and i think they want me to keep taking the pills until my next doctor appointment which is on wednesday which will put me at 36 weeks 3 days.
they said boys develop slower than girls so that is why they are trying to prolong it as far as possible even though i have had the steroid shots (at 28 weeks) and he has been measuring fine this whole time.

This is my second time at taking prcardia during a pregnancy...

When I was prego with daughter I took it from 32 weeks until 36 weeks and I had her 3 days after I stopped taking it.

This time around I was put on it again after a trip to the hospital thrusday and the doctor gave me 2 refills so I could take it until I am 40 weeks but he told me that I can stop it in three weeks if I want to and baby will be okay to deliver (i will be 35 weeks then)... I plan on waiting a little bit longer than that... I was really hoping to make it to June..

Good Luck Mama's and get your rest... DOnt over exert yourself and drink plenty of water!!!

I am 32 weeks roughly with twins, have and 2 shots of Terb and am now taking Nifed. Im not sure how long they are going to keep me on it...i seem to still be having some contractins and lower pelvic pain...i think were gonna try to keep em cooking until 36 weeks...Can you still go into labor on these meds? I have to go in 2x weekly for NSTs and AFI checks and also see my regular dr once a week as of now...I had my first daughter at 35 weeks for other complications. I am only dialted to one as of wednesday, 50% effaced and baby a is vertex at minus 2 station, baby b is breech...Im a single mom on bedrest, so i hope i can make it for a fewmore weeks!!!! any advice?
