re: Any TTC'ers with thyroid problems?

I just don't understand why doctors would even want to "refuse" tests when they are getting paid for them. I have excellant insurance and billing history so it's not like he could of been like"Eh she has Medicaid...I'm not wasting my time" the way the many doctors UNFORTUNATLY do. But he kept telling me I am working myself up over a miscarriage that is so common. He was so cold about everything. It may even be true. But I want the damned test to know for sure. -Failli...He explained to me that if it were Hyperthyroid...my thyroid would swell in my neck...and I have every other "symptoms" of it but he claimed it is b.c I have 12 years of recorded severe anxiety, ocd and manic depression. First of all I don't see where 12 yrs comes from b.c I'll be 25 on June 5th and I didn't start goingto a doctor for any of that until I was about 18. And he said I would be overweight if it were hypothyroid. But, def not true...I was talking with my neighbor today about what happened and she told me all about her HYPOthyroid and she is average weight for a 29 yr old. She gave me her doctor's # so I'll def go there. I don't even know if it could be a thyroid issue at all that I am having but it def would be nice to have that test done to figure out if I should continue ttc or wait. I've been trying as much as I possible for the dates I'm getting on this fertility friend thing for 5 mos...No luck. I just want answers. (Or maybe we should just just start "doing it" for fun like before....we've both been on such baby mode...) Who knows....Baby Fever is offically SET IN..and it's mighty vicous!

so, my results came back today..I am still hyper thyroid so my Dr. says 3 months on a lower dose of synthroid and he will recheck my levels..Says I should avoid getting pregnant till this is all worked out. I have been F;ing with my meds since OCT 2007 now. I am frusterated and can't stop crying. We lost my pregnancy at 9 weeks back in FEB 08, I just got my first period since then...and we are READY! But now my Dr says wait.

I understand needing to be in the normal range, however, 3 months is wayyyy too long to wait. I KNOW that after 4 weeks they can retest and have valid results..It only takes 2 weeks for the synthroid to effect you.

I am beside myself, Why me?

Untrue..........I've been hypo for 10 years and I've never had an abnormal palpation of my thyroid gland.
AND many people don't even exhibit symptoms of the disease when it's diagnosed.
He's just being lazy.
It's your money, your body so why won't he test? He's a lazy poopy doctor, that's why.

Alright girls...i'm officially freaking out!!! I'm almost three days late now (this never happens) and have been having a lot of pg symptoms. I am going to get a test when my husband gets off work @ 6. I took an equate test the morning i was suposed to get AF and it was neg. So yeah i'm really getting nervous now!!! I'll probably test tonight and in the morning!

Nope i'm still negative    ..and have no idea whats going on.

I was put on synthroid today. My TSH was 67.7

We've been TTC #2 for about a year with a few miscarriages and then nothing. Maybe taking the synthroid will help straighten that out?

It should def help. I think when your TSH is so high you don't even ovulate.

I visit my OB tomorrow morning. If anything, she can just help me not feel so discouraged.

I tried to call an endo. in our area but they require a referral from my primary even though my insurance doesn't require that...how lame...not to mention they said it could be 3 months before I get in . Sucky sucky sucky...I guess I should just be thankful that my levels aren't super bad!

My doctor called yesterday and told me to increase my synthroid to 100 mcg a day, which means that my tsh is off again...nooo! So maybe i won't be ttc now for a while  .

Maybe just 2 weeks-month. Your thyroid levels should respond to your new dosage within 2 weeks and depending on when you're supposed to ovulate will depend on if your thyroid levels will be affected soon enough.

Update: Just came back from OB. She's confident that the only thing wrong is my thyroid levels---meaning there's no other cause for infertility. It's a good sign that I O'd 5/7 finally.
She's happy I gained 6 pounds in the last 6 months because now I'm in a normal BMI range--a good thing I guess when you're trying to conceive.
I go back in in 2 weeks for some fasting bloodword--just to rule out PCOS and also do another full thyroid panel.
My cervix "looks perfect" and my uterus feels nice and small with no evidence of fibroids.
All in all, she lifted my spirits and I trust her completely with my fetility in her hands.

I'm pregnant!! I go to the ob/gyn next Monday to check everything out. I am so scared it's unbelieveable. I just PRAY everything will be okay this time.
