re: Any TTC'ers with thyroid problems?

posted 6th May
From what I understand it levels your T3 out with your TSH. Sometimes you can increase the dose of your levothyroxine all you want but if your T3 is out of wack, no amount of synthroid will decrease it, so adding on cytomel brings down the TSH when an increased dose of synthroid won't.

My dr put my on cytomel when he got either my t4 levels right but my t3 was still screwy....or it was the other way around he said one can be level without the other being on track

Thanks for the answers! I never knew that, to be honest I didn't know anything was wrong with me until I went in for a check up, and trying to lose some weight. I had my levels rechecked yesterday, I was hoping to hear back to day but I didn't

Gosh I'm so new to all of this, I thought that if you have a hypothyroid that you should feel more energetic with synthroid or levothyroxin...am I confused?

I feel worse on cytomel. It was added to my daily RX repetoire ( also on synthroid 150 mcg) in October 2008 and have been hyper ever since. They say you may feelmore revved upwhen hyper, but if I am not in the normal range, either way ( hypo or hyper) I feel like poo. Lethargic, tired, weepy...consitpated, dry skin, hair falls out...

When I was diagnosed with Graves' disease at 19, I was hyper...yet I gained 30 lbs ( leading to my diagnosis)...The endo said my system was so maxed out that it shut down..Some hyper patients exhibit the same signs as hypo.

There really is no cut and dry, this way or that...it's all gray matter.

I definitely feel better on cytomel twice a day. I have more engery, no constipation and I can think better. Plus it makes my cycles longer and I actually ovulate.
Even when I was on cytomel just once a day, I felt horrible and my cycles were so short (19-21 days) and I wasn't ovulating.

Just this morning OPT=Positive!
I haven't ovulated in soooo long. Def BD when I get home from work today!

Ugh. They called back. My levels went up from 3.1 in March to 3.5....they had told me I didn't need to come in for four months, it's a good thing I went back in. They upped my dose to 88mcg and told me to be rechecked in 4 months again, however I don't think I'm going to wait that long. What do you guys think, does that sound right?

Also what didyour doctors say is the range you need to be in in order to conceive/have a healthy pregnancy
