Quoting NaTishaC: I just found out that I have to have my gallbladder removed. Does anyone know how long after surgery ... [snip!] ... the surgery so I'm just curious how long it takes to get the anaesthesia out of your system so that it doesn't affect them.I had mine taken out last year I would pump 2 days worth so that way all the medicine is out of your system and the pain isn't so bad

Quoting KellyTheChef: Hereare twolinks I found that may be helpful: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/2/t025700.asp http: ... [snip!] ... surgery goes well!! Do you have help scheduled to be with you afterwards for at least a few days? (Your Mom, DH, a friend...)Thank you, I actually found afew websites that said the same thing. That makes me feel a little better about having the surgery. I just don't want him to have to take a bottle unless heabsolutely has to. I'm pretty trusting of the kellymom website so I think that breastfeeding will be fine after the surgery. I will still pump some milk just incase something goes wrong though because the last thing that I want is for him to have totake formula. I'm afraid he would starve before he ever actually took it.
Quoting KellyTheChef: One of my girlfriends had this surgery at the beginning of the year. She seemed to feel more herself ... [snip!] ... more herself after about 3 days, and said that the recovery really wasn't as bad as the pain she had been in BEFORE surgery!I can believe that. The pain is so bad right now when I have attacks that I can't imagine that the surgery would hurt worse. Thank you for everyone's input.
Quoting NaTishaC: Was the recovery pretty easy?I slept through it cause I was on pain meds It hurt I am not going to lie but it got better in a couple of days thats why i said to pump enough for two days and make sure to have a bottle that resembles you nipples the most so it won't be hard to take back to b/f But u will feel like b/f after like two days so don't worry to much

I'm going back and forth between a few of them that "say" they are best for breastfed babies. And also how much milk should I give him? I don't even know what's normal because he has always nursed. I'm sorry for all of the questions but I just wasn't expecting to even have to use bottles at all and now we got this news.

Um I would just look at you nipples and memorize the shape of them. Go to Wal-mart or a baby store such as babies r us and look at their selection of bottles. How old is your baby? that will help me determine how much is needed and how about how much does baby weigh?
Quoting NaTishaC: He's about 3 1/2 months and weighs a little over 15 lbs and 27 1/2 inches long. He's a big boy. Thank you for the help.Yeah he is! I would say pump as much as u can in between feedings probably 6oz every chance u get but I wouldn't over do it I think if u have 7 6oz bottles w/ milk for a day u would have enough to cover yourself for the time it takes u to recover. So pump about 14 6oz bottles and that should cover it how much time do u have before surgry?
Quoting NaTishaC: She is letting me tell her when I can do it tomorrow because I wanted to figure out what I would do for ... [snip!] ... that much? I normally have milk left over after he eats everytime. I make so much of it as you can tell by looking at him. LOL yeah just pump a little extra every feeding like two oz out of each boob then if u have the surgry in a week u will have a load of extra just in case is he your only one?
