Getting pregnant after abortion

I had a surgical abortion last year. Not that we have been trying but we haven't been using protection and I use this cool little app on my phone to log to track my periods. I can also track when do it and I've noticed that we could do it every single day of the month and I still don't get preggo. Did anyone else have trouble getting pregnant after an abortion or is this normal??

I didn't have an abortion but after my miscarriage and I guess it was a D&C it took a long time for me to get pregnant again. It will happen when your body is ready.

to me it seems when you try it doesnt happen. dont think about it and let it happen

It's not as easy as it looks to get pregnant! Just keep tracking your ovulation  

I had a surgical abortion many years ago and didn't try to get pregnant afterward. I did have a D&C after a miscarriage and did not have any problems getting immediately pregnant afterward. It may be worth a trip to you OB/GYN to see if there is anything going on that may be keeping you from conceiving. Good luck!

some people it just takes more to get pregnant. I don't think the abortion had anything to do with it.

Took me 5 months after my D&C.
Didn't start trying again until 4 months after though.

I had no problem at all getting pregnant. In fact, I got pregnant on birth control, this time. But the circumstances are much different this time around, so I decided against abortion.

It's just really weird...I have 2 kids already and clearly didn't have a problem getting pregnant before. Who knows, maybe I should go to the Dr...

Maybe not everything was cleared out and a D&C may help. It's worth a trip to a doctor to make sure.

If it's been a year and assuming you weren't scarred or they didn't do a lazy D&C job, there shouldn't be a problem with getting pregnant again. Most couples take about a year on average.

The doc won't actually help with fertility until you have been trying for at least a year to get pregnant.

Hello, I had an abortion when i was 16. After that i was on birth control for about 2 years. After going off birth control i was having unprotected sex with my boyfriend and i didnt get pregnant again until this past october. I am not sure if it is because of the abortion, or because my heart was set on getting pregnant this time.

I had a D&C from a miscarriage and was able to pregnant. I found that counting 14 days from the first day of your period will tell you your ovulation day and to only have sex during the days in which you are ovulation. Start having sex 3 days before the 14th day after your period starts and for 2 days after a total of 5 days. Doing so will give the father time to build up sperm for your fertile days and also having sex a little bit before you ovulate will ensure that there are swimmers there the moment the egg is released. It worked for me the very first month I tried. I am pretty sure it will work with in a few months if you follow the steps. I told a friend about how I calculated after she had been trying for 18 months to get pregnant and the very first time she figured her ovulation date and started 3 days before just in case she actually ovulated a day or so early or later and she was pregnant that month. It is worth a shot let us know if it works.

It took me many months to get pregnant after mine--a little more than a year after my original procedure, during which I was on and off birth control. I wasn't trying to get pregnant, I honestly thought I'd just ruined my body and I wasn't capable of being pregnant anymore. So I stopped taking birth control entirely, and about 5 to 6 months later, I was preggo.

I would say it is normal. However, I also had complications with my procedure and I don't know the case with you.
