Shouldn't she be doing it by now?

posted 29th May '12
DD will be 15 weeks old on Friday. So that makes her almost 4 months old. She's not rolling over yet and still holds her hands in fists, she's only just started looking at her hands and clothes and actually paying attention to things, she's started chewing on her hands, too. But she won't make the effort to grab at anything or try to roll over. She's a tummy sleeper so she gets plenty of time on her belly to learn these things. My thing is, i have a friend who's DD is four months old. She grabs at things, shakes rattles and is making the effort to roll over & does it successfully sometimes. My DD and her DD are only a little over a week apart. Should i be worried that she's still not trying to do any of these things? What can i do to help her?

Every child develops at a different rate, and it sounds like she's getting there. It's impossible to compare your child to anyone else's. There will be some things she will be "behind" with in comparison and things she will be "ahead" with in comparison.
Just keep playing with her, she'll get there.

Many children set their own pace hun! Just take her favorite toys and co-hearse her to get them. Sometimes it works.

I'd say it's normal.
My DD who is now 23 months was a super active baby. She was rolling over at 3 months, playing with stuff, babbling etc.
DS who is now 7 months, didn't start rolling til 4.5 months, and just now really got interested in toys and other things.

Was she born early. My friends daughter was born 2 months early and she didn't start to grab at things until she was 7 months and she will be one in a couple months an just started to roll over and sit up unassisted.

Just keep practicing mama. Kids do things on their own timetables, believe me I have 4! My last son didn't walk til he was 15 months old, no matter what we did. Just let her live and let yourself breathe! It will happen!

I've tried the toys things. She doesn't make any effort. I hang em from her carseat and stroller and she'll stare at em and smile but that's about it.

DD didn't roll over until she was 5 months. That was right when she started sitting up on her own. She was a lazy baby. Gets it from her mama. lol.
