Preemie not eating at home!!!

posted 3rd May
Okay, my preemie just came home today   He is suppose to be eating 60mls every 4 hours, his last FULL feeding was at the hospital this morning at 9am, we tried to feed him at 1, and he only took 20mls, and I have tried to feed him again at 4 and he didnt take nothing....I called back the NICU to tell them about it and they said that it was him tring to get use to a new invoroment, and that has long as he doesnt go 12 hours without a wet diaper and that as long as he takes 40mls then he wont get dehydrated, he goes to his pediatrician on monday, but I am just soooo worried about the not eating all he wants to do is sleep!!!!! Anyone else go through this...........thanks

We had this problem the first day. Our son was just born the 25th and was in NICU for 4 days, was taking an ounce and a half in NICU, came home, and was only taking a 1/2 oz here and there. All he wanted to do was sleep. The nurse said he must be comfortable, so comfortable that he didn't wanna wake up. He is eating 2 1/2 oz every 3 hours now and going through a major growth spurt, but now he definately lets us know when he is hungry. I'm sure your little one is fine, hospitals make people tired, maybe he is just resting it out?   Good Luck hun.

5 weeks early, via c-section due to preeclampsia. He did extremely well and is surprising us every day. He started lifting his head at 2 days old, rolled over for the first time yesterday at a week old, and now grabs our fingers and tries to pull himself up. lol WAY too young to be doing all that.

Well at about 6 last nite, after griffyn not taking nothing but 20mls since leaving the hosptial at 11am, I took him to the er............he had a blood infection and if I didnt take him when I did he most likley would have not made it!!!!!! So thank god I took him...he has to stay in the hosptial 7,10 or 14 days--it all depends on how he does with the antibotics......

hey sorry to hear about what is going on with Gryffin, but i mean what happened? Didn't the hospital make sure he was okay before they discharged him? I hope he gets better soon. Well how did it feel having him home? Gabby is doing good she is eating good at first she didn't really want to eat now she is eating very good. She sleeps through out the whole night. She is still on her oxygen and her apnea machine but it hardly ever goes off. I am happy she is home. Well let me know how Gryffin is doing. I will pray for him to get better and come home soon!

Thank god you took him when you did. I could not even imagin having to go thought that. At least you knew what to look for and when to go for help.

I wish Sawyer a speedy recovery.
