Fruit juice. Prune or apple work best.

Define struggling. Infants are rarely constipated. Formula fed babies can be but that is generally a chronic thing based on the formula not a one time deal.

Call your pediatrician! Even though it's a holiday weekend, there should be a nurse on-call, or a number you can call. Make sure it's okay with your doctor before you give the baby juice- two months old is awful young for juice (it's not our grandmother's generation anymore, when that would not have been a problem, lol). Are you breastfeeding? (keep in mind I have never breastfed, I'm quite the idiot about this topic!) I thought that what you ate determined what nutrients the baby gets, right? so maybe eat more fruits and high fiber things? Idk!

Agree with this. Breasted babies don't get constipated. They can go up to 10 days without a BM because their bodies use every bit of the milk and there is minimal "filler waste" like in formula.

Karo and you don't want to give your baby corn syrup unless necessary.

When Kinley was on formula (I breastfed at first) she was constipated alot. It turned out was just not the formula that worked well with her system. I would mention it at your next appointment. I switched her formula and it got much better (with my doctors approval of course)

She is breatfed, but last night I started her on formula as her last feed at night, could she have tummy ache from that?

Why FF at all if she has been successfully EBF for 2 months?

You have to give her time to adjust. It's a big change. When I started Kinley I mixed it with breastmilk at first and slowly increased the formula until I ran out of stored breastmilk. I worked two jobs at the time almost all day and there was no way that my milk supply was keeping up and she preferred the bottle (because of the quickness? Idk.) Anyways it's going to take a little time for her to adjust.

My supply seems to be slowing down so my midwife suggested trying her last feed as formula

Or just nurse more, since that's the only surefire way to up your supply.

A midwife suggested you feeding formula? That is odd for them.

To increase your supply you have to put the baby to the breast more often. Also, you need to make sure you are properly hydrating and eating enough healthy calories. You can't "diet" while you are breastfeeding. I promise you that if you eat properly and keep nursing more often your supply will grow leaps and bounds.

One more thing, it might seem like your supply is going down because you aren't leaking all over the place anymore. All it really means is that your body has adjusted to the needs of your baby and is not over producing anymore.

Yes, she could have a tummy ache from the formula.
