little rant- went to the mall

posted 3rd May
I'm down to a 16 now (from a 20), but still have another 30 lbs until I'm back to my normal clothes. I haven't consider myself fat, I've just gained some fluff after having a baby, and I've been losing it.

But here's the story...
Yesterday we went to the mall so I can get an outfit for this wedding we're going to today on the beach. I live in sweatpants, my bf's shirts, and a pair of size 18 jeans, so I was in need of something summery and nice. Well, we go to Old Navy, no luck. Sears, nothing there either. So I go to Lane Bryant (I got my jeans there) but as soon as I walked in, these skinny assed group of mall mice*saw me, and started laughing and pointing at me! My first reaction was "fuck em, whatever, they're just immature kids", but within a minute I walked out looking for them to give them a piece of my mind. They got away, must have went into a store. But as I was walking past the stores with the tight jeans and swim suits on display, I just wanted to cry. Which I did, as soon as I got to the car.

*mall mice: young teenagers (both boys and girls) who hang out at the mall, smoke cigarettes outside to look cool, talk on cell phones while walking together, spend obscene amounts of their parents' money 'cause they're too young to work, and are loud and obnoxious so people will pay attention to them. Every mall is infested with them.
Mall rats on the other hand, are significantly less annoying.

It was like a flashback to school shopping right before 9th grade, when I was at my highest weight, pre baby of course, a whopping 169  . I cried in every dressing room because everything was so ill fitting, and my mom kept suggesting stores that I knew wouldn't have my size (The Limited, Express, etc...) But at that time I also had a 24 hr retainer that gave me a speech impediment when I wore it, I had really bad hair, and even worse skin. All of which just amped up those ugly teenager feelings.

So when those kids laughed at me, it was like I was 14 all over again. I just can't wait to feel like I'm 16, when I was 135 and enjoyed getting dressed in the morning.

Aww. I'm sorry you had to deal with that shit. I feel your pain completely. I probably would have "accidently" tripped and fallen my fat ass on top of them but eh... That's just me.

Haha, yeah, they were a bunch of pretzel sticks. I think evenTyra Banks could have fallen on them and snapped 'em all!

god i can't stand those kids. My husband wants to beat them up every time we go to the mall lol. We can't stand them. But even though I would never want to be that annoying I have cried becuase my body is not as good as theres. I still want to lose about 20 more pounds but I will never look like they do. Especially since I plan on having more children one day.

Oh, forget those bastards.. They have nothing better to do than make someone feel horrible about themselves.. they need a friggin' life. Feel great that you're losing weight and fitting in smaller clothes! I hate going to the mall bc of those idiots, but when I see a group of them I LoooooooooooooooooVE to violently shove my way through them, stomping on toes if I can or elbow one of the little bastards and cursing the whole time like they're the ones inconveniencing me, ha.

Thank youeverybody  . I swear if that happens again, I'm not gonna hesitate one second to tell them off. Or I'll just follow them pointing and laughing about all their faults. Maybe both.

But get this... It's a good thing I didn't buy anything the other day. The womens' attire for this wedding is going to be skirts and bikini tops!  ! When my bf called to tell me that, I was like "do they know that I'm gonna be there?!".Aside fromthe weight issue, it's stretch mark city for me, so I'm doing a halter swim top and skirt, plenty of coverage.

Just a suggestion..
Maybe get some of those huge, pretty low hanging necklaces (I hope you know what I'm talking about, if not I can try and find an example pic) and get a flattering low neckline (if you're the type that's okay with showing a bit of cleavage) bathing suit so it'll draw attention away from you not wearing the same as everyone else. You'll look so pretty!

Aw man! I should have done that! My top had a low neckline, and I have a necklace that would have been perfect. Thanks for the tip though, next time I'll do it for sure.

Aww honey I'm sorry   I haven't had my baby yet but a month ago I was at Motherhood Maternity. There was a prego lady and her friend trying on clothes an what not. They looked like mid thirties. They kept looking at me and whispering and it made me feel really uncomfortable. They must have lost track of me at some point because I was in the fitting room across from them and they were talking about me!! They were like "Oh my God that girl was huge! It must suck to be fat and then get pregnant. I hope I don't end up looking like her."..."Oh don't worry honey those people don't care about themselves and obviously not about their babys' health or they wouldn't be that way in the first place. She should be shopping at a plus size store not a maternity store." I started BALLING my eyes out. I got dressed, went to check out, and the store clerk kept apologizing trying to tell me I look wonderful, blah blah blah. They ladies came out as I was finished paying and they had the "oops" look. I was so incredibly humiliated. I haven't gone back to the mall since and that was 7 weeks ago. I weighed 155 before prego and I ran 30-35 miles a week, worked out, etc. I weigh 205 now with 4 weeks to go. I'm just preparing myself for the PP shopping mall mice

I can't believe they said that!I looked at your profile, you look great! You're all belly and that's awesome, they were just being jealous. I don'tunderstand how people can say such horrible things.

On a side note: I was 150 when I got pregnant, and 220 at the end. But the day I delivered I weighed in at 213, because for some reason you drop a few pounds before labor. And then when I left the hospital I was 218! I was so mad, especially since my baby was almost 9 pounds!
