Birth Control

posted 24th May '12
I was just wondering what kind of birth control you ladies recommend. I have my Drs appointment tomorrow & I was considering just going with Mirena, but i've heard some pretty negative things about it. I'd just like to hear the opinions of you ladies & your personal choices when it comes to it.

Please && Thank You!!

I have implanon and love it.

To many of my friends have had iud babies and health problems from mirena. For some reason a match stick sized implant in my arm is far less scary to me then metal or plastic shoved into my uterus

Pre-warning: I am hormone sensitive.

The insertion of Merina made me start losing consciousness. I was told that going unconscious and having seizures was "normal" for insertion. It also hurt like a bitch.

It caused me excruciating back pain for weeks straight. I couldn't get out of bed, couldn't hold my daughter. I was also having panic attacks and hallucinating with sleep paralysis.

I have the Mirena. It's been a year since I got it. - I have no trouble at all.

No weight gain (actually lost weight - back down to 120lbs)
No mood swings
No periods (haven't had one since July of last year)
No nothing

I love mine - But some ladies are different - Some say I just got lucky lol

Not Implanon. I'm a person that never gets the side effects of medication, and I have a lot of them from implanon... Acne, weight gain, headaches, and I've bled since I got it, almost a month ago. I know it takes a minute for my body to adjust, but I'm going to take it out and get on the pill. That's what I've seemed to do best with.

That sucks I'm highly sensitive to hormones the mini pill even makes me sick but I haven't had any issues with the implanon.

I'm upset that all these things are happening to me. I really wanted to like it, but it's not working out that way

Well at least you know the pill works for you.

I was worried about the implanon not working out especially after I had an allergic reaction to the lidocaine   I have a scar from the lidocaine and where the implanon was inserted is barely visible.

Ive had the implanon for almost two months. The first month i didnt get a period and was freaked out. My doctor said that it can stop your period.. i corrected her and said the info on it says not till after a year.. and she responded "So whats your problem?" and i told her "How do i know if i get pregnant on this thing if i dont have a period?" She responed "Uh, keep a stock of test and test once a month" That really irked me.. I havent really had an issue with bleeding. But ive hurd alot of women have had issues.. the only time i have issues is..unless im stressed. if i stress out.. i willl bleed.. if i try my best to stay chillaxed..i will go a month with out bleeding.. its kinda annoying.. but i like the idea of not having to worry with anything for three years.

I have mirena. No problems so far. I've only had it since April and there were 2 weeks that I bled. But other than that I've had no problems

I had a good insertion experience with the mirena but a year after I got it. It started to gradually slide out of position and I would have horrible abdonminal pain and ended up n the er bc of it. I would suggest trying something else. I am done after this one....come on permanent sterillization! Yay!

Not Mirena. Google Mirena Crash...as well as all the Mirena side effects you can have while on it...including but not limited to: Severe Back pain, migraines, cysts, bleeding for 3 months straight, yeast infections, mood swings/hormone imbalances.

Those are just some of the things I experienced...as well as the Mirena crash when it was removed.

I will never get another birth control as long as I live - other than condoms.
