is it wrong

To get a babys ear pierced at birth? My boyfriend and ihave been talking and he thinks we should wait til our daughter is a few years old but i disagree. My doctor did mine when i was 3 days old and the malls did them again for me at 3, 6, 9, 13, 14( had to redo the one i got at 13), 15, and 16 years. Yes i got 7 ear rings in each ear   but anyways i just feel that one is fine for a baby and if in a few years she dont want it then she can take them out... i dont know.. am i wrong for saying i want to get my little girls ears done?

At birth yes!

Wait til she's had her first set of shots, most places won't do it until she's had her first set of shots anyways.

I am waiting till my DD is old enough to decide for herself whether she wants holes in her body.

My DS will not get my permission to get piercings. If he wants them he needs to wait till hes 18.

I talked to DH about the same issue we're waiting until she turns 10 to let her decide if she wants them done or not...the only problem I see with getting them done when she's so young is that if she does want them out they might have a hard time closing up if they do at all..

I prefer to wait until she asks.

Some people take pride in having no body modifications. I wouldn't want to make a choice she might not want.

But, that's me. I don't care what anyone else does.

I personally wouldnt do it at birth. In my family we always wait until the first birthday. But I say if yall can come to an agreement go for it.

Meh I'd say so. if I have a girl she will not have her ears pierced until she asks to have them done.

There's no right or wrong... it's a matter of personal opinion.
I've read that doing them as infants actually decreases the risk of infection, because you can take care of them and they'll heal nicely... when kids are 3, 4, 5-yo's, they're going to be more prone to playing with them and messing them up... If I have a little girl, I'd like to do it when she's an infant, haven't had that discussion with my husband yet though.

You had 3 holes in each ear by the time you were 6???

They let my mom at three days old when she told me to the doctors for shoots and everything but the doctor did it himself. I dont think its a bad thing for it to be that early

It's your choice. IMO I'd wait until she decided if she wanted them. It's her body. But to each their own.

my mom waited til we asked for them i believe we where all 2 or 3.

i waited til my oldest was 9 months big mistake she played with them got infected had to pull them out. so when 2nd was born i wanted to due it right away at birth as all my family told me too. and we did that was the best way. if i was haveing a girl i would due it again that way . my oldest wanted some by then as well so they got them on the same day. she was almost 2 and understood not to play with them. but she doses get scared when we got clean then she remembers it hurting when she got them.

Yea i had to redo them cause they do close easily but i love earrings and it was my choice as i fell should be my daughters but i think if i got them done later she could always choose later to let them close so i dont know but boyfriend is being big on " NO we need to wait til she is like 7 or 8" i just dont agree

That was also how many years ago? I got mine done when i was 2 weeks old. Some doctors didn't know smurf back then.

Also you probably won't find a pediatrician who will do it until after her first set of shots, so around two months old
