Drying up breast milk

posted 24th May '12
What was the easiest and quickest way that you got your breast milk to dry up? How long did it take? I am tired of this pain.

It dried up in a few days.. You can use cold cabbage leaves in your bra or wrap them up

For 5 days I pumped once in the morning and once at night. Not completely emptying myself, but it relieved the pain and I didn't have to worry about infection. Then I went to once a day for a few days then just stopped.

If you pump the milk out its going to signall your breasts to make more milk and it will take longer to dry up

I wore a tight sports bra and just didn't pump or anything. The dr suggested 1 time a day taking a hot shower and just facing it for a few minutes to relieve it a bit. It took me about 4 - 5 days for the swelling to go down.

so i went to my dr today to talk to her about my engorgement issue and wanting to stop breastfeeding. she told me to take tylenol and sudafed regularly as well as bounding my boobs tight to get it to dry up quicker. i figure everyone knows about the bounding and tylenol but thought id mention the sudafed if anyone wanted to try it.
