Christian Daycare/School

posted 2nd May
So we are about to put MaKenzie is a Christian daycare, what is your opinion on christian daycare we value our christian standards very much..I was just wondering if anyone thinks it may turn her away from them by having the bible drilled into her all the time..everyday actually...I just know some ppl that it has had that effect on..btw she will also be going to a christian school once she finishes daycare..and hopefully she will graduate there. The daycare and the school are at the same place..not that it matters just thought I would add that!

What matters the most is what they get at home. Make sure that you teach them important values in life VERY early.

i am planning on looking into it.

i don't see why not, as long as they also inderstand the proper positive guidance and do things the way you want your child to be brought up.

and actually the more aware and compfortable she is growing up with it, i think the more comfortable and confidentshe will be in her faith later in life if its what she decides she believes in.

yeah.. and it could just be the actual church.
if its not exciting, maybe a different church would be... ya know??

i have learned that different pastors and stuff make a HUGE difference in how excited i am to go each week.
besides a christian day care isnt going to be throwing stuff at her and making her read lines out of the bible all day.. at least they shouldn't.. they play and stuff.. its just a background and support.

Oh opps...Sorry I misunderstood. I thought when she graduated Preschool. Derr....

You can ask her opinion when she gets older to see whether she would like to stay or not. You never know, she might actually like it.

I went to Christian school all my life (elementary, middle, high, and college), and so did my brothers. We were all three taken to church every Sunday (unless we were sick). I still go to church every week (although I went through a "rebellious" phase at 22-25, really), but my brother Adam doesn't, but he still believes in God and says he's a Christian. My brother Brandon doesn't go to church, and whether or not he believes in God or is a Christian depends on what day you're talking to him.

Really, I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping your kids in Christian schools...I think what affects their decisions later in life is their personality. I did some serious praying and searching throughout high school and college, and I personalized my faith and kept it going. And I've always been pretty compliant, so I'm not really one to buck the system, so to speak. Although, if I had issues with my beliefs when I did my searching, I would have changed them. My brothers, on the other hand, have always been a bit more rebellious, and especially in the case of my brother Brandon, he's turned from "religion" (for lack of a better word) mostly out of rebellion.

I think the best thing you can do for your child(ren) is, when they get older, stress the importance of them personalizing their faith rather than just accepting what has been spoon-fed to them.

I understand. it just seems like some people send their kids to Christian schools thinking that is all they need and don't live any of it at home. My son goes to a public school, mainly because he is ESE and most Christian schools don't have a program for him. But we are in Church every Sunday for both services and on Wednesday in AWANA. I also went to Christian schools for most of my life and was homeschooled for a while. The only real complaint that I have about Christian schools is in the older grades at lot of "problem" kids are put there by their parents thinking it will straighten them out. What it does most of the time is bring down the other kids and cause problems.
