36 weeks, 3cm dialated 50% effaced!

So I went to the doctor Thursday and I am already 3 cm dialated and 50% effaced. This is my third pregnancy, but I was just wondering what everyone else thinks? Do you think I will make it to 40 weeks? Previous pregnancies my eldest son was born at 39 weeks with the help of the doctor breaking my bag of fluids. My youngest son tried to come into the world at 34 weeks and was forced to stop labor, he finally came on his own at 37 weeks 4 days, with no help from any doctor and had a bowel movement in the placenta. Any thoughts? Just curious.

I don't really think it's any indication of when baby will come. Baby could be born tomorrow, or you could be induced at 42 weeks because he/she won't come. All pregnancies are different and dilation etc really doesn't really tell you, considering you can be dilated for months.

Yeah I know what you mean. Pregnancy and birth really is something that is unpredictable and never the same twice I don't think. The thing is, the waiting and determining when to go to the hospital is so confusing for me. I've went in and it be contractions with no progression and went in and been admitted either for watch or delivery. However, every time I went to have my previous boys I was never prepared, I thought it was false labor, but was made to go to the hospital by my spouse, and what do you know it wasn't false labor. LOL

LOL, then keep the Hubby close by, he'll know when it's time

Awww... well damn. Just make sure you have your bags packed this time around then and keep it in the trunk of your car or something if you can. At least that way if you go in and it's not a false alarm, you'll have your things and baby's things.

Most definately! I have baby's things packed, just not mine but oh well, that can always be last min. lol

lol, yeah I'm pregnant for the 5th time yikes, but had one miscarriage  , so this will be my 4th child and all very different. I'm only nervous because my babies came earlier and earlier, the 1st 41 wks, the 2nd 37 wks, the 3rd 35 wks, and as of wednesday I will be 33 wks, but praying that she stays in till near the end, I don't like the thought of delivering toooo early. I will pack to be ready after our baby shower on Sunday, and hope nothing happens till at least July. I hope you atl east carry for another week or so, my son at 37 wks was ok but my daughter at 35 wks, needed an extra 5 days in the hospital longer than the average baby

Yeah by Thursday I should be ok, at 37 weeks. I'm having a hard time sleeping now, and I get up to take care of my friends kids to get them off to school. It can be difficult at times, I don't get to sleep in, and stuff like I would like to. My two are younger and could sleep till probably 8 or 9. LOL! Mine did the same they always try to come earlier, this one has 3 years between the pregnancy, so I will probably be fine. My iron levels are low too, just hope I can keep some energy in my system. Sometimes the iron pills don't seem to help. LOL thanks for the replies! It's nice to have some adult input, and just talk. =) Good luck to all!
