Momma's to preemies born around 32 weeks!

Hello all! I haven't posted in the preemie's section lately, but I have a question that is bugging me & kinda of making me anxious.


My son born at 32 weeks & 4 days on November 18th, 2011. He was due January 9th, 2012. He was 3 lbs, 13 oz & 17.5 inches long. His head circumference was 30 centimeters. At his 4 month check up 2 months ago, He was up to 12 lbs, 6 oz, he was 23 3/4 inches, & his head circumference was 40.7 centimeters.

I know he has gained weight & gotten taller, but it still bugs me when people say "Oh, he should be so much taller." "Shouldn't he weigh more than this?" "Feed him cereal & baby food, he needs to plump up." <--- This right there, his pediatrician said NOT to give him any solids, cereal, anything like that, until his adjusted age is 6 months & his actual age is 8 months, NOT when he turned 6 months old from his birth date. That won't be for 2 more months, as he just turned 6 months old a few days ago.

Anyways, back to my question. How much did your preemies weigh at their 6 month check up? Aidan goes for it on May 31st ( I don't know why they scheduled it so late.)

my son was born at 32 weeks and 5 days. we weighed 5lbs even and was 17 inches long. at 6 month he weighed 16lbs 14oz and was 26 inches long. he is a big eater!

I had my son at 28 weeks and he was 2 pds he gained weight really slow when he was 3 months he just reached 4pds so i understand what ur saying about people makin those comments and making u feel like ur not doing ur job well dont listen to them. I gave my son solids at a year old because the doctor told me to wait even though he wanted table food early i was 2 scared to give him any so what im trying to say is whenever u feel comfortable giving him solids or cereal then do it.  

My son Jace was born at 33 weeks and 2 days on May 14th 2012 he is 8 days old today and still in the NICU (2 hrs from where I live) he weighed 3 lbs 7 oz when he was born and today weighs 3 lbs 13 oz health wise he is only on a feeding tube and in one of the enclosed beds for warmth how did you all get through this I am a mess I can't bring myself to leave him but I am going crazy missing his father and my 4 year old son who are both back home the Dr. keeps telling me 2-3 weeks but everyday feels like a week Iam broken !! I don't have a choice but to go back home on wednesday because I have no one to watch my 4 yr old which is ok because I can't wait to see him but not ok because I am only going to see the baby on the weekends and I'll have to take turns because my oldest will be with us and little mans daddy misses him too we get to hold him with every feeding which is every 3 hrs so that means I'll get to see him for an hr every 6 hrs   please help I just feel so helpless and lost !!

First of: Breathe. It is hard, extremely hard. DH & I made it out to the hospital every day, but we could only stay for 4-5 hours (with him working, & my trying to get his room finished.)
It's hard to see them go through this, but just remember he WILL get better, it will just take time.
