Maybe they figure the baby is already comming so they might as well get excited. My mom had the depo shot and it completely ruined her cycle. She got it for around 3 yearsand her periods are still not normal. She stopped taking it almost 2 years ago. I understand about your sil. I have crazy people in my family too! lol

I understand what you're saying about the 16-year-old being excited, but at the same time, she probably should get excited to ward off some possible depression. I'm 25 and just had my first baby, but I'm not with her dad, and my family is VERY religious, so me getting pregnant out of wedlock was like the end of the world. I was actually afraid to get excited for a while because I didn't know how my family would react, but finally, I said to myself, "Screw them...I'm having a baby!!"   Even after allowing myself to get excited, I still had a good deal of depression because of the situation.

So, I'd say let her get excited.

You do have a good reason to think these things. I understand where your coming from with the 16 y.o, although I am 16 and preg. I was on BC and I tookthe pillfaithfully... I AM excited now because I've had time to let the fact sink in... there is no point in being upset about something that is already happend and I can't change. My mom was PISSED at me when I told her but she's slowly getting over it and yes getting excited... A baby is always an exciting thing no matter how you look at it. Some teen parents can do it, raise a baby and go to school and handle a part time job but sadly some can't and it just turns into a bad situation for the child. So I get why your upset over it, but maybe try to look at it from their point of view and don't judge her by her mistakes... just how she handles them.
