My doctor appointment

posted 2nd May
I went to my dr. appt yesterday. Heart rate is 150, due date Sept. 20th (that was just the drs guess but she said it was pretty close, which makes me five months pregnant (they didn't think I was pregnant or SOMETHING, they had me pee in a cup so they could prove it, then I laid down on the table and she was poking around on my belly and she was like, yeah, you're pregnant alright.." duh... but anyways, so my bf finally got to hear the heartbeat. I'm glad, cuz that's one less thing we have to argue about. The baby's been moving around like crazy! It kicked my bfs but last night (he was laying turned away from me facing the wall and I was snuggled up against him with my belly against his butt). I was like "haha the baby kicked your butt"... but he was asleep, so he didn't hear me. Is a heart rate of 150 supposed to be a boy or a girl? I googled it, and a lot said boy, a lot said girl, and a couple said over 150 was something and under 150 was something but it didn't say what 150 was. The dr. didn't have the equipment to do an ultrasound I guess so I'm going to be going to Lisa Dobbins at Integris in Yukon I believe as soon as I call her to get an appointment, which will be sometime today. Dr. Garner told me that she is really hard to get into, but she except SoonerCare, and as soon as I tell her I'm already 5 months along, (20 weeks!), she'll let me right in b/c she likes to start seeing her patients somewhere around 3 months. So... I get to see another doctor... and in a couple of weeks, I should know the sex of my baby for sure!

Any time you go to a new doctor or anything, they'll usually do a pregnancy test. I only took one myself, but I probably had at least 5 more afterwards between the time I found out I was pregnant and when I got into an office (where I kept going to the same place) and everything, hah.
Anyway, don't pay any attention to what the heart rate says about gender. My baby's has been in the higher 150's and my midwife said she really thought I was having a girl. Nope, it's a boy. And one of my friends said her midwife told her the opposite, that she thought she was having a boy, and she got the ultrasound and found out it was a girl.

That's an old wive's tale. The way I've heard it was that girls have faster heart rates. Mine was in the high 150's and then after the us we found out it was a boy so just wait until your us.

I heard that, too. My midwife said something like "the heart rate is a little fast, I bet you're having a girl!" and it was also in the high 150's, and also a boy. With my friend, hers was a little slower and her doctor told her she thought she was having a boy, and well... two years later, she DEFINITELY has a little princess, haha!
