Caiden's Victory *Two Videos*

[ DS is 3.5 is in the process of seeing a specialist to see what's going on with him. He' was talking in 3-4 word sentences then at 18 months old he regressed and wouldn't say anything but sounds and maybe five words but his speech therapist didn't see them as actual words.

He's been in speech therapy twice a week for thirty minutes for the past year.

In his speech therapist's word " With very limited progress and not likely to meet his goals" ]

The whole time I've been working with him at home too, obviously. I too haven't seen much progress at all. He also can't answer questions and doesn't seem to comprehend things so it was hard to tell what he was understanding.

At home and in speech he'll parrot things you just said or something he heard a while ago. However he doesn't do that that often.

We went for a mile walk yesterday and I got these videos. They aren't very long so please watch, I'm so INCREDIBLY proud of my little boy.

I know it probably won't seem like a big deal for a 3.5 year old to repeat those things but for us it's a huge deal. This gives me hope that one day, maybe next month or maybe next year - but just maybe I'll be able to have an actual conversation with my child one day <3

Have you tried putting him in a school setting??? Cylus is the same way and he had obstructive sleep apnea. The ENT said getting his tonsils and adenoids out would fix his speech issue, but it didn't. He had speech therapy and we didn't see alot of improvement but now that he has been in a school setting we have seen alot of improvement but not huge strides if you get what I'm saying. Like outsiders think he isn't making improvement but from seeing him from day to day you can tell the improvement.

I'm working on it. I put in an application for him with Head Start and just need to get a medical and dental exam done and turned it. I'll hear something by July, I think.

That's so great he's making improvement!!

YAY that is awesome!   Cylus is in like a special ed class for preschoolers. Your local school might offer them for free.
